Unchecky is a program that automatically unchecks offers that are commonly bundled with free programs that you download off the Internet. As a way to generate revenue, some software developers include other bundled programs with the installer of their free product. These bundled programs, though, are commonly adware or other potentially unwanted programs and can have an adverse affect on your computer if they are installed. Unchecky provides an extra layer of security by automatically unchecking offers that are not related to the main program you are downloading. This protects you from accidentally installing something that you did not wish to install.
For those who wish to use unchecky in an enterprise environment, the program can be installed using command line arguments that make it possible to be pushed out in login scripts. The available command line arguments are described below:
-? | Shows the list of command line arguments |
-install | Installs Unchecky silently. This command is useful for login scripts where you do not want the user to see the installation prompts. |
-update | Updates Uncheck silently. This command is useful for login scripts where you want Unchecky to perform an update every time a user logs in. |
-path | Allows you to specify an alternate folder that Unchecky will be installed to. This argument can only be used when you specify the -install argument as well. |
-lang N | Allows you specify the language of Unchecky as an LCID code. e.g. 1033 for English. This argument can only be used when you specify the -install argument as well. |
-no_desktop_icon | Will not create a shortcut when Unchecky is installed. This argument can only be used when you specify the -installâ argument as well. |
