Hello all, and let me start by saying thank you to any assistance provided here....
I have a MacBook Pro laptop that is running High Sierra 10.13.4 MacOS, and am having some confusing, and concerning issues as of late that I believe are related to some form of viral attack on my computer.
This all started last Monday, when I noticed that my hard drive had lost 8gb of free space on it without me downloading or installing anything. Nonetheless, I did not freak out about this, and just deleted a number of video files that I have on a backup drive. Still, this has happened to me a couple of times since then, where I boot my computer, and check to see that I have far less free space on my drive than the last time I was on the computer. This led me to believe that my system has been compromised somehow.
Another indicator of this is that the login password for my online banking site is constantly changing, and having to be reset. I have had to reset this password a few times since last Monday, and just happened to me again tonight, and I am hoping that someone can explain the cause of these problems to me.
- Is someone trying to access my banking account online??
- Is someone downloading and installing applications on my computer, or is a Trojan / worm virus replicating itself, and thus eating up drive space?? What is going on??
All of this seems to be happening while I am at work, or asleep, and the computer is turned off.
If there is some form of log that I could download, and post here, I am happy to oblige if it will facilitate solving my problems.
Please tell me what is happening, and provide any means of rectifying it that you are aware of, and Thanks in advance!!
