Hi all,

About a month ago I upgraded my motherboard, processor, and memory, and since then, my computer has faced constant BSODs.  The BSODs only appear when attempting to start or play a game, and are typically one of the following errors:

  • PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (50)
  • ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NOEXECUTE_MEMORY (fc)
  • KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (1e)

A trend I've noticed is that this only happens for games with anti-cheat software, and the game will either crash or throw one of the above BSOD errors.  The games I've tried are Elden Ring, Helldivers 2, Destiny 2, and Genshin Impact, each of which use a different anti-cheat, with Destiny 2 and Genshin Impact regularly causing the BSODs.

Since I started facing these issues, I've tried everything I can to resolve this issue, going as far as to do a fresh install of windows, and manually installing all of the necessary drivers.  This did alleviate the problem, but did not resolve it. Instead of facing immediate BSODs or crashes upon launching one of these games, I can usually receive some sort of stability for a short time - anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours.  After doing a fresh install, I've run hardware checks on both memory and my disks, but both come back clean, I've run stress tests to ensure that all of my hardware can withstand high stress scenarios, I've tried temporarily disabling my anti-virus and firewall, and I've turned off all overclocking software from my BIOS. Everything is also currently up-to-date - OS, drivers, and BIOS.  The last effort I've made is to disconnect all non-essential parts from my motherboard, only leaving the memory, m.2 drives, and cpu fan connected to it. I'm still face the same problem.

I'm at a complete loss, and I'm hoping that someone with more experience than me might know how to resolve the issue.

I've attached the sysnative collection zip.

Here is a link to the speccy, with only essential hardware attached to the motherboard:
http://speccy.piriform.com/results/XMSEUvLrZXCE75sm5mIxtZz

And, here is a link to a dropbox containing a number of .dmp files from different points in time (I tried attaching them to this post, but was denied permission).  The most recent .dmp files are under the folder 4-13-2024_dmp_files, which all occurred today and yesterday evening:
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/s5ak...t-SLE1f0?rlkey=1ilc53f7i8q4en6s3vh00uenx&dl=0

Let me know if any more information is needed, I'll be more than happy to provide it.  I'd appreciate any assistance I can get.

Thanks

Hi, Welcome to BC.

So it can be seen that this is a resent install.  The completion of a proper install was not done after installing Windows.

It is key that after installing Windows you disconnect from the internet and you install your Motherboard Support Drivers for your : TUF GAMING Z790-PRO WIFI

from the drivers you have previously downloaded from your M/B Support Page : https://www.asus.com/motherboards-components/motherboards/tuf-gaming/tuf-gaming-z790-pro-wifi/helpdesk_download?model2Name=TUF-GAMING-Z790-PRO-WIFI

Starting with your Chipset Drivers which provide Device Manager with the proper information from the maker followed by reboot then your SATA Driver and reboot

Followed by your Video Card Driver/s then lesser and rest of the drivers with multiple reboots.

(imho a install is a bust unless done as per above)  If you have not installed them, start over or install them now and see what happens.

https://www.windowscentral.com/how-create-windows-10-usb-bootable-media-uefi-support /11

Note : Armoury Crate & Aura Creator Installer, Aura can cause issues as RGB is Vanity.  Armoury Crate has when opened in lower left corner a Gear Icon.  Click on it and then the page that opens in it click the middle tab that is there for Updates.

By no means this is not a replacement for installing drivers properly to begin with.

Note : never take Windows Update Drivers for the next 5 yrs while you have a Support Page.  Do not use Driver installers as you will be back here.

You are running BIOS Version : 1641   Date:  2/21/2024   Please Update to Current Version : 1645  Date : 2024/03/19

1. Improved DDR5 compatibility
2. Further optimized CEP settings when disabled
Updating this BIOS will simultaneously update the corresponding Intel ME to version 16.1.30.2307v4. Please note after you update this BIOS, the ME version remains the updated one even if you roll back to an older BIOS later.

Update as per your Manual Instructions and renaming instructions (download if do not have it).

Note : While in BIOS Turn off ASUS Fast Boot for the same reasons as below :

Turn off MS Fast Start : https://www.windowscentral.com/software-apps/windows-11/how-to-enable-or-disable-fast-startup-on-windows-11 and WHY !!!

Note : Speccy is incomplete info on ram and SPD due to no Chipset installed.

All your info in Post #1 can be edited/deleted re Speccy Report, Dump Files and Links.

When you have installed all your Proper Drivers or have Started over with a clean install and installed as per instructions given and driver info given and you have crashed again with a BSOD or other need please come back and Post a new Speccy Report and new Sysnative Report. in this Forum or in the appropriate Help Forum :=} G'luck.

As recommended, I started by attempting to install the chipset driver and update the BIOS.  I updated the BIOS successfully, but attempting to manually install the chipset driver failed - for some reason the asus script for installing the chipset drivers on my system did not successfully install any of the drivers (it's possible that I just did it wrong, but after some research, it seems like it failed for another reason I can't determine).  I then installed Armoury Crate, and used that to install the chipset drivers. I was able to confirm in my device manager that the chipset drivers had been successfully installed.  However, the issue persisted, so I moved on to the next step of a fresh install.

I completely wiped the drive, re-partitioned it, then installed the OS on top of that.  Once done, I attempted to manually install the chipset driver before connecting to the internet, but as before, manually installing the chipset driver failed.  So I was forced to install Armoury Crate again and use it download the necessary drivers.  I installed every main driver recommended by Armory Crate, going one at a time and restarting my PC in-between each, starting with the chipset, then the SATA driver, then the internet and other drivers.  After this, I used GeForce Experience to install the latest video driver for my graphics card (which I had re-connected to my motherboard).

After installing the drivers, I installed other components necessary to testing this problem.  I re-installed speccy and steam.  My games are already installed on my secondary SSD, so it wasn't necessary to install anything else.

Issue persists.

I also noticed that even though the chipset drivers are installed now, speccy still can't show complete info on ram or SPD, which as previously noted, indicated that the chipset may still not be installed correctly.

I've attached a new Sysnative File Collection zip.

Here is the latest Speccy, now equipped with all my hardware:

http://speccy.piriform.com/results/6UqkYOQmYEN7STyEcEVRJ0m

I've also uploaded the latest dmp files to the aforementioned dropbox link under the new folder 4-13-20_clean_install_dmp_files.

I'm more than ready to do another fresh install if I messed something up.

Thanks for taking a look

Fyi when troubleshooting a system all devices should be disconnected except for the bare minimum.

So fyi re Ram : CMH64GX5M2B6400C32    6400MHz is it seems lucky it is being Throttled back to 4800MHz. as per Ram Info HTML page in the Collection.

fyi : you do not buy ram as to what the Motherboard can handle you buy ram to what the chip can handle per it's Spec Page :

i9-14900K https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/236773/intel-core-i9-processor-14900k-36m-cache-up-to-6-00-ghz/specifications.html

Up to DDR5 5600 MT/s before you turn on XMP which would then make it incompatible and harm your chip or have it burn out (like mine did). That is why ram is @ 4800MHz.   Does not mean it is compatible as of yet.
Up to DDR4 3200 MT/s

I am not up to figuring the why's but since bought wrong ram and there is no mention in your post as per the posting instructions of testing your ram before posting please run only one stick of ram in the appropriate slot as per your motherboard manual and test it with memtest86 for 4 passes then another 4 passes, swap out the stick for the other and do the same please.

At this time do not know if you will need to replace the ram or not to meet compatibility.

Did you look on the Motherboard Support Page under the Heading of CPU / Memory Support and see if all the Devices you are running are on the page under Other Devices and are listed as compatible ?

Is this your Corsair Monitor : 27QHD240 https://www.corsair.com/ca/en/p/monitors/cm-9030002-na/xeneon-27qhd240-27-inch-oled-2560x14400-240hz-gaming-display-cm-9030002-na#tab-downloads

If so have you installed the Firmware : XENEON 27QHD240 OLED Firmware V106

Samsung SSD 970 EVO - Install Magician : https://semiconductor.samsung.com/us/consumer-storage/support/tools/

3726GB PCIe SSD  - Make / Model ??

SanDisk 3.2 Gen 1 SCSI - provide more information make / model as well  Western Digital Product and it is @  53 °C  should be below 50°C

There are drivers missing, probably chipset drivers...

Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)    USB\VID_0000&PID_0002\6&10C71C98&0&1    43
PCI Device    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7A24&SUBSYS_88821043&REV_11\3&11583659&0&FD    The drivers for this device are not installed.
Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R)    USB\VID_8087&PID_0033\5&CC3F949&0&14    This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.
SM Bus Controller    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7A23&SUBSYS_88821043&REV_11\3&11583659&0&FC    The drivers for this device are not installed.

The one dump that was uploaded points very clearly the the BattleEye anti-cheat driver BEDaisy.sys. Here's the instruction that failed...

.

You can see that it's a BEDaisy.sys instruction, at offset 0x3548E7 into the driver module. It's an exclusive or (XOR) instruction doing a bitwise exclusive or of the lower 32 bits of the RSI register (ESI) with the lower 32 bits at the memory location given by the sum of the RSP and RDX registers minus 0x748AFF01. As you can see that memory location is invalid (????????). I've seen exactly this BEDaisy.sys BSOD elsewhere in the last week.

BEDaisy.sys causes lots of BSODs, I see a couple a month on average. If you can do without it at all then please do so.

Based on what you've both discovered, It's obvious the issue is with the memory chipset drivers not being installed on my system. I went back and reviewed all the information regarding the memory I have installed, and it looks like the issue is that according to the asus support website, the motherboard does not currently support the memory sticks that are currently installed (CMH64GX5M2B6400C32).  I thought I had undergone this exercise when I had purchased the installed ram, but it seems I was mistaken.  I'm almost certain this is why the memory drivers are not being installed on my system.  I've purchased new memory sticks that are explicitly stated to be supported by the motherboard (CMT64GX5M2B5600C40), and will update here once installed.

Thanks for all of your assistance.

As per :

i9-14900K https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/236773/intel-core-i9-processor-14900k-36m-cache-up-to-6-00-ghz/specifications.html

Up to DDR4 3200 MT/s

ram is @ 4800MHz   This would more towards being the correct speed. 5200 as soon as turn XMP on your overclocking your ram as well as exceeding the max compatible speed to the chip.

Both void the warranty of both parts.  Chip maker will know this days.

Can still have issues fyi.

G'luck and welcome.

I just completed the installation exercise of the new memory today and did a fresh install in order to ensure a proper installation of the drivers.  Problem persists, however, I did find some new information.  I now see the driver "Intel® Shared SRAM - 7A27" listed as a driver in device manager, which I'm assuming is the driver that handles memory, but it is currently in a state of "No drivers are installed for this device". I checked the event history for the driver, and it is having trouble starting for some reason. It is listing the issue as follows:

Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7A27&SUBSYS_88821043&REV_11\3&11583659&0&A2 had a problem starting.

Driver Name: oem46.inf
Class Guid: {4d36e97d-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
Service:
Lower Filters:
Upper Filters:
Problem: 0x0
Problem Status: 0xC00000E5

I've already attempted re-installation of all the chipset drivers, but no luck.  I also noticed that there are several similar drivers that are in a similar state, such as "Intel® SMBus - 7A23" and "Intel® SPI (flash) Controller - 7A24".  I'm not sure where to go from here.

I've attached the latest Sysnative File Collection zip, and here is a link to the current Speccy:

http://speccy.piriform.com/results/w7jdO4SVzAELTDBxTA1n2X7

Let me know if you have any thoughts on where to go from here.
Thanks.

Hi, You are correct it is a file trying to be memory but it may not have anything to do with memory.  It maybe a WD Driver that is trying to set itself as memory if have WD Drive.

Open Device Manager then Click View --> Show Hidden Devices and see what is going on there.

Can also delete the driver in Device manger and reboot and see what it comes up with.

Search the registry for that entry and see what it is set to do / Services also and see what it is set at.

Re install the SATA Drivers, that should have been the 2nd driver installed after Chipset.

On Motherboard Support Page : https://www.asus.com/motherboards-components/motherboards/tuf-gaming/tuf-gaming-z790-pro-wifi/helpdesk_download?model2Name=TUF-GAMING-Z790-PRO-WIFI

Under the Chipset click on Show All, did all the Intel stuff get installed ??

No Idea where the ME Update Tool installs to so that could also be it under Bios.

Did you install Armoury Crate and then Open it, Bottom left Click the Gear Icon and then the Middle and see if there is a Update to install.

As well your i9-14900K Spec Page Link to Downloads : https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/236773/intel-core-i9-processor-14900k-36m-cache-up-to-6-00-ghz/downloads.html can be installed that way + ....

But ya your ram is not showing properly in Speccy.

Need more than 1 dump file for definitive information.

You again bought Ram that is too fast for the Chip.     DDR5 DRAM 5600MT/s CL40 Memory Kit. you were recommended to buy 4800 so that you could use XMP with out exceeding the max compatible speed to the chip.  https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/236773/intel-core-i9-processor-14900k-36m-cache-up-to-6-00-ghz/specifications.html

As soon as XMP is enabled you are no longer compatible.  You void warranty for the chip.  intel will know as chip keeps a record.

So unless know what you are doing with Voltages and proper memory Overclocking you may still be in trouble.

Something is not installed correctly that is for sure.

So based on your recommendation, I've done the following:

  • I checked hidden devices in device manager for any potential issues, but didn't notice anything in particular (this could have been me just not being totally sure what to look for though).
  • I checked the registry editor for any error information, but it looked clean.  No flags or problems were provided.
  • I reinstalled the offending chipset drivers as well as the SATA drivers.
  • I double checked Armoury Crate for any additional updates under the Updates section.
  • I used the Intel Driver Support Assistance tool to see if it could scan for my driver (I had deleted the offending drivers at the time of scanning.). It did not detect the driver (or my installed memory).
  • Finally I checked the event viewer to see if any errors were logged when trying to initialize the offending driver. I found a WHEA event id 19 error.

Here is the xml output for the WHEA error:

After finding the WHEA error, I did some research to determine if this could cause my current problem. It seems that hypothetically, since my hardware checks are coming back clean, there could be an issue with the motherboard itself. Is that the most likely possibility, or are there other debugging actions I should take before contacting ASUS?

As a side note, I returned the CMT64GX5M2B5600C40, since it was still too fast for the processor, and instead ordered one stick of Crucial CT32G48C40U5, since it should be inline with your recommendation. I'll update on whether or not this has any affect when the hardware arrives.

I also don't have any .dmp files to share this time, unless there are specific .dmp files that I am not aware of that could be helpful.

Regardless, thanks again for your continued assistance.

I now think this might well be a problem with your system drive - the Samsung 970 EVO. In your System log we see a huge number of these warning messages...

Log Name:      System
Source:        Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-PnP
Date:          16/04/2024 02:40:04
Event ID:      225
Task Category: (223)

Description:
The description for Event ID 225 from source Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-PnP cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

4676
52
\Device\HarddiskVolume3\Windows\System32\svchost.exe
60
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A74D&SUBSYS_88821043&REV_01\3&11583659&0&30
75
C:\Windows\system32\svchost.exe -k LocalServiceNetworkRestricted -p -s Dhcp
0

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table

We also see this message for other processes...

That suggests it's more likely a problem with \Device\HarddiskVolume3 (your Samsung 970 EVO system drive) than with a specific process or driver.

The WHEA hardware detected event messages are quite possibly related to problems with the Samsung 970 EVO too, though there's no way to know....

I think I would download Samsung Magician and see whether there is a firmware or driver update for that drive. Also post the SMART data that shows.

Understandably frustrating.

It is too Early I think to Base anything on the Motherboard as so far have not seen any proof or anything that would think that so far.

Would this be the issue of the past ram and the new ram you are getting :    Crucial 32GB DDR5 4800MHz UDIMM Memory Module - PC5-38400 - CL40 - 1.1V - Unbuffered - Non-ECC - 288-Pin UDIMM (CT32G48C40U5)

Most often I think it is a little bit clearer as to what is what.  AM I A Apple OR A Orange...........?
