Sleep not resuming (again)

Hi all

 

I had this issue back in 2022 (Sleep not coming back - Windows 10 Support (bleepingcomputer.com))

 

It's just started again for last day or so. I put my PC to sleep (moon button on my keyboard). When I try to resume, the fan in the case starts up, but my mouse and keyboard don't light up, and my monitor gets no signal. All I can do then is a manual shutdown with the power button the case, and then start up again.

 

I don't use hibernate, and all windows 10 and drivers are up to date. I didn't install anything new or funny in the last few days, although some apps have automatically updated themselves, I think.

 

I'm not sure what I did to fix this back in 2022, if anything, but I do know that shortly afterwards, I did a full reinstall of Windows. Rather not go that route if I can help it.

 

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Try to put it to sleep using the menu command under "Shutdown or Sign out" See if that puts it to sleep.

Yes, putting it sleep via the start button does put it to sleep. But waking up is still an issue

Also what settings do you have configured under additional power settings?

Hi, if have not done so turn off MS Fast Start : https://www.windowscentral.com/how-disable-windows-10-fast-startup and WHY !!!

 

I'm set to High Performance, but temperatures are OK

 

Hibernation is off

 

Fast start is off

So when you try to wake from sleep what are you doing?

 

Something is not quite right with your system.

 

Have you run DISM and and SFC Scannow? Run DISM with the scanhealth switch.

 

If it reports the image is OK then run SFC.

So when you try to wake from sleep what are you doing?

Normally just move the mouse or press a key on the keyboard (usually Shift or Enter)

Suggest you run DISM and then SFC.

Thanks. I ran DISM but it didn't find any corruptions (both the quick scan and the deeper scan)

DISM only checks the component store. (sort of a backup).

 

Once DISM give a clean bill of health you need to run SFC.

 

Personally I would do the following as next steps:

 

• Check all the installed software on your PC and remove any you do not use.
• Any remaining software check for updates an the makers web sites.
• Go into device manager and check for mouse or keyboard errors.
• If you have keyboard customisation software check that it can wake your PC up.
• Go into power and sleep then additional power settings then change plan settings. A menu will open that allows you to customise your power plan. Check under USB to make sure when you sleep your keyboard is not sleeping.

Do each step in turn and then see if the problem is fixed. If you do all the steps at once you won't know what fixed the problem.

Not sure what to look for in there to see if anything in it relates to sleep or power, etc
