I'd apreciate if you could help me.

My PC now got this habbit of changing contrast to very intense levels when booting and when opening PC settings. This only used happened when I played Resident Evil 3, and I thought it was a filter that the game applied and it went away when closing, but now Windows boots with this on. Tried changing color intensity and pixel format in AMD Adrenaline, and also tried turning off HDR in display settings in Windows 10 and it doesn't go away. I've also reinstalled AMD drivers and it still persists.

Have you checked under Settings >> Colours to make sure "high contrast" is not selected?

Can you post the brand and model name or number of the PSU and RAM.

The RAM is not appropriate for your CPU, AMD state here up to 3200MHz/MT/s and if you have DOCP/EXPO/XMP enabled the RAM will get auto OCd past what the CPU can handle and the PC will become unstable.

You should also make sure that the Windows Power Plan is set to Balanced and not High Performance or Ryzen Balanced.

You have a high end rig but a PSU that is rated as – Tier B • Mid-range

Download then run Speccy ( free ) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

  1. In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
  2. In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
  3. Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

You have a couple of major issues going on but before elaborating can I ask;

Why you have not disabled XMP and why is the Windows Power Plan set to High Performance when it was advised that it should be Balanced.

Ultra and High Performance are a form of overclocking that is known to cause stability and overheating issues coupled with the number of drives and a not very good PSU such as the one that you have things will get hotter and weaker the more that you use the PC and if not careful something may go bang.

XMP was not enabled. Just regular overclock on RAM to 3600 MHz and CPU to 4.7 GHz.

I disabled all overclocks and the issue persists, as I assumed it would. And no part ever overheats, otherwise I would not overclock them. The GPU is even undervolted.

I might have not explained it correctly, but when I said that it happens when Windows boots, I meant that it happens when I get into the desktop.

Hi there,

I uninstalled AMD Adrenalin and the issue stopped while it was gone. Once I installed it again, the issue returned. The issue is the GPU driver. I'll have to contact AMD about this.

Take care.

Think that you will find that the core issue lays elsewhere but thanks for the follow up in any event.

I'll have to contact AMD about this.

Good luck with that.

I did contact AMD and they responded, but I ended up just reinstalling Windows 10 and the issue is gone.

I did contact AMD and they responded,

Doesn`t look like you were overwhelmed with their offers of help, more like a total lack of it.

A clean install helps on occasion but any underlaying issue/s will always come back, it is a case of wait and see if your other present problems trigger the recent behaviour, one of your previous problems is addressed below;

Whatever you do, stick with Windows Defender for your AV protection, one of if not the main cause of your troubles was you having two AV pograms unning at the same time, not just bad but very risky as well.

Antivirus
Windows Defender
Antivirus: Enabled
Virus Signature Database: Up to date
Panda Dome
Antivirus: Enabled
Virus Signature Database: Up to date

Having more than one AV or Firewall installed on your computer is bad, it will slow down the computer, cause internet connection problems and leave you with no AV protection at all if they cancel each other out as they fight for resources.

Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and 11 come with an improved Windows Defender, it offers the same real-time anti-virus/anti-malware protection as Microsoft Security Essentials. Windows Defender also shares the same malware signature definitions as Microsoft Security Essentials, and Forefront Endpoint Protection. Technically, Microsoft Security Essentials has not been renamed Windows Defender, or combined with it in Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and 11.

Bottom line, you don`t need no third party AV.

There's diverging opinions about that, but I'll just use Windows Defender for now.

Using 2 AV's at the same time is never a good idea.

By all means have a second program available to run stand alone scans from time to time that's a good idea. But 2 AV's constantly monitoring your system will cause conflicts.
