Something keeps disconnecting from my PC

Hi all

 

So I'm at the end of my tether with this, something on my PC keeps disconnecting as my PC keeps making the sound when a device is unplugged.  I have USB Log View running in the background to try to figure out what it is, but it doesn't show up on there so it can't be something USB related, and Windows doesn't keep a log of devices being connected or disconnected.  It's extremely frustrating as I do not know what to do, I've swapped just about every cable in my machine, reseated hardware, removed hardware, nothing works, so any insight offered here would be greatly appreciated.  I'm using Windows 10 version 2004, build 19041.264.

Does Device Manager report any unknown devices?

Do you have bluetooth enabled for your phone or tablet?

Yes, but my phone is not paired to my PC, and it occurs even when Bluetooth is disabled.

Are you aware of any operational problems with your computer - either hard or soft ware ? If not, why not just turn off the connect/disconnect sounds in 'Control panel - System sounds' ?

 

If you are aware of any problems then they would need to be fixed, but turning off these sounds would stop the computer annoying you.

Something else you can try is updating the Chipset driver for your computer - it may repair any corruption that might be taking place.

 

If you post your model #, we can see if we can locate the latest chipset driver.

 

Also, since you seem to be on a Windows Insider Build, you may want to check in with the Windows Insider forum here:

The fact that you are on an insider build complicates the issue a bit.

I'm not aware of any, no, but then again that's what I'm trying to find out.

I would check with the Insider Build group. Perhaps they have encountered this. The only other thing I can think of is to Start in Safe Mode with Networking, and then restart in Normal Mode.

Since you are running 2004, I would just do a clean install of a fresh 2004 installation. That should set your system right. Or revert back to 1910.

After doing extensive research into this problem and this build I would say that you should revert back to version 1910, this issue can't be fixed in 2004 right now.

Thanks for all your suggestions, but I seem to have fixed it. The build of 2004 I am running is the one available from my MSDN subscription, the release version of 2004 is available as an installable .iso now. Either way, the issue was present when I was running 1909 as well. What I ended up doing was installing new firmware for Intel Management Engine from my motherboard manufacturers website, ever since then its been fine. I had previously been running the generic version of that firmware, but motherboard vendors often tailor their firmware to their specific boards.
