Unusual high number of threads and handles

   I've been trying to check what is wrong with my laptop because it suddenly running so slow to the point of sometime running in a single digit fps despite having a good spec for a gaming laptop. then i check the task manager and i saw that the number of threads and handles is very unusual.
   Normally, my laptop would have like way less amount of threads and handles but now i got like 5600 threads and 167000 handles even tho i only run 2 google chrome tabs. how do i fix it? i already tried sfc scan then restart and repair microsoft redistributable but it didnt help at all.
Please help me, and thanks in advance for helping.

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.   Checkmark the following checkboxes:
  List last 10 Event Viewer log
  List Installed Programs
  List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
 
Click Go and paste the content into your next post.
 
Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy,  taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

   Go to  website, and download the free version on the left.  Click Download from ccleanercom (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version. You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.

    After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.
 
     Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course):
 


     Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot.

     Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard

Do you open ARMOURY CRATE and go to the Gear icon at bottom Settings then to the Update Center at top and use it to Update ?
 

As well you should have ASUS System Control Interface v3 from Support page installed and have gone to the Windows Store for : MyASUS for it also Updates the system and has Diagnostics.

In these Diagnostics when run you can push massive amount of air through the GPU and through the Keyboard to clean dust and skin out of it.

Above needs to be done regardless if not using Defender as A/V as other things in Defender run.

Pretty normal for what you have in the background as well all the ASUS Stuff (like me) 2 browser windows open, 3 Extensins , Norton 360 and Malwarebytes, Intel, samsung, f.lux, Windows Security, Nvidia

 

247 Processes, 3601 Threads, 1223885 Handel s

 

Turn off stuff in Startup,  Can use MS Autoruns and Process Explorer  is in the list of Sysinternals.

Sorry for late reply. I was busy the whole time that im offline. i was in the countryside doing some business. i tried those but still the handles and threads count is still as high as 130k++. the fps does get better a bit but the handles still the same. is there any other way to fix it ?

Use the built in task manager and chrome-urls when wanting to look into the specifics of Chromium based browsers. A lot of sandboxing happens inside the browser so it is not unusual to see a lot of activity going on in it.

When gaming you should always shutdown apps and software not needed, the game can cause high fps along with network connection to the gaming servers.

Use : MS Sysinternals, specifically Autoruns and Process Explorer.

 

Turn off what you do not need to have running at Start but 1st from View Menu click Hide MS stuff,

 

Do nothing you can not reverse or have taken a screen shot or written it down before doing so.  Not will need to reboot for changes to take effect.

 

Process explorer is the same, just learn what is going on.

 

Personally I have yet to install or use Chrome and never will.  Is a Memory hog as well steals your privacy.  As well it is a problem you have created.

You do not need to be running more than 3 extensions.

 

Tons of other browsers out there that are fast and use less resources including Firefox.

 

Time to do a clean install and install properly this time.
