I think this is a Windows problem even though it's about the keyboard, but please move if this is the wrong section.

This morning while I was typing an email to my daughter, the "h" key suddenly stopped working. Then I noticed that several other keys also stopped working: c, v, / and 2-3 others.

Then I noticed that those same keys worked just fine in upper case. Then I pressed Caps Lock and was able to type lower case "h" by pressing the Shift key, which cancels the Caps Lock.

What the *%$#&*?

This is a 2 year old MSI computer from Xotic PC. It has had several problems, so I called tech support. While I was waiting on hold, the keys started working again.

When the tech finally answered, the only thing he could come up with was sticky keys, but that was turned off. And I don't see how it could affect only a few keys.

This has to be software. If it was the key itself, then the Caps Lock workaround would not have worked.

Any clues?

Boot with a Linux live distro and see if the same is exhibited. If such, try a different keyboard to rule out a faulty one.

Hi, Did you try rebooting the unknown MSI system prob a Laptop  to see if that fixed the issue ??   No info on the MSI model so could not check your Support Page.

Did you take a Windows Update Driver during Patch Tuesday.  Think have mentioned not to take drivers from them.  See in Device Manager if replaced your driver to 2006.

The problem disappeared about an hour after it appeared and hasn't returned. Gremlins.
