The last couple of weeks a page with an empty window appears after I enters the password and Windows comes on. At the lower right there are icons of a little man and a speaker. What is it and how do I get rid of it? Se attached image.

Hi, no idea myself.   Does Sound work properly and you have all functions ?

Please run : https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ and do not skip the last step of Basic Repair.  Keep the logs if anything found.

You can check what starts at Boot with MS Autoruns : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns  as for the Live Version I have never used it.

You want to hide all MS files from Options.   At 1st check in Logon then under Everything.

If do not know what you are doing do nothing other than screen shots as you delete something here and system can go toast.

Have you tried the Ctrl-Alt-Del key combination to try to get to a menu?

Failing that, have you tried the Ctrl-Shift-ESC key combination to try to get to Task Manager?

What is it ................................

It's an incomplete "Let's finish setting up your device" screen - the one where you're asked if you want to enable OneDrive, subscribe to Microsoft 365, etc.

You say that you've had this problem of two weeks now. Are you able to cancel that screen so that you can use your computer normally, or has it been there the whole time? Let me know which it is and then I'll be able to give you some practical advice.

I agree that it sure looks like an incomplete screen from that dumb "Let's Finish...." dialog, although I don't understand why the main window is blank (corruption? GPU driver issue? something else?).

If that's what it is -- and I confess, it's hard to tell -- then this tutorial may help:

https://www.elevenforum.com/t/enable-or-disable-lets-finish-setting-up-your-device-in-windows-11.5205/

Better yet is it Activated. ?

Certainly a reasonable question.

But "Let's Finish Setting Up Your Device" will show up even on a properly licensed and activated system.

It's just another MS attempt to foist OneDrive and other services.

If one does not disable it (see tutorial link above), it will show up periodically/randomly ~indefinitely....

I don't need to cancel the screen because it's there for just a second and then disappears.

So, did you follow this tutorial to disable the notification?

https://www.elevenforum.com/t/enable-or-disable-lets-finish-setting-up-your-device-in-windows-11.5205/

Please provide an update when you're able, so that we all can learn.

Thank you

PS This notification is intermittent. So, even if you successfully run the tutorial, you may need to monitor the system for several days to see if the change "sticks".

Hans, head over to Settings -> System -> Notifications -> scroll all the way down to the bottom -> Additional settings -> UNTICK "Suggest ways to get the most out of Windows.................".

Finally, restart your computer by choosing RESTART from the power options menu.

In the unlikely event that that window does return, the restart may show a complete screen with all the options so you can complete all the questions.

That is exactly what the tutorial for which I provided the link advises.

I did what you suggested but there is no change at all. I have also run Autoruns.exe to see if I could find the process but there are too many entries in the log file and I don't know what to look for.

OK, on reboot the empty page stayed on long enough for me to click on the little icon and this page came up.

Seems weird but : https://www.tenforums.com/general-support/15744-lock-screen-narrator-magnifier-auto-start-switched-off.html

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-keyboard-shortcuts-for-accessibility-021bcb62-45c8-e4ef-1e4f-41b8c1fc87fd

As to why it starts at boot....... This is normally brought up with a keyboard command.
