How much data is there to transfer? If we're talking about just a few gigabytes or less, why not use use a USB drive, such as a flash or external drive to transfer the data?
If it's more data, or more complex with many folders, the best way is to connect both PCs to your network and connect the two via Windows' built-in networking functions. However, that can be a bit nasty to get working sometimes.
Transfer programs are unecessary for raw files. They're more useful for retaining settings or folder structures. More info. would help us guide you in the right direction.
