I have a windows 98 Packard Bell desktop. Question is, can I simply add more Ram and download a Vista upgrade or are there more things to consider? Why I want to update this old computer is to run old CD games that require Windows Vista.

I highly doubt you would be able to run Vista on a computer designed for Windows 98. There may also be issues finding Vista drivers the the vintage hardware and you would still have an OS that is no longer supported with security updates.

What are the specs of the computer. What is the CPU, hard drive size, and amount of RAM?

Also you will need to buy a copy of Vista as there is no free update from 98 to Vista. Maybe give it a try in a virtual machine on you main computer.

Thanks for the help. The more I dwell into this, the more I realize this 98 isn't going to get it. It will never have what it takes to run those programs.

You might want to consider buying a used Vista machine off Ebay!

Or maybe get a 7 machine, you can get away for a buck or under inc shipping!

Which ever go for get 4g ram or better, once you start poking around you will fins a bunch of stuff.

Vista link!
