I have an AMD Sempron pc which I bought in 2004 and I have loaded it with a windows 98 disc that my wife had from when she used to work in The Sultanate of Oman.

I didn't get into computers until 2004 so my AMD Sempron pc came with xp home edition. I have over the years had 3 other computers, the latest one running windows 10.

I installed 98 on my old pc ( which went perfectly )  as a bit of a project just to see what earlier windows versions were like to use. The problem I have is that the product key with the disc is no longer valid so, I would like to get hold of a valid key that I can use.

When searching on google for valid keys I got nowhere. Lots of keys available but doubt if they are valid.

Can anyone help please .

Thanks.

Worth A Read.

Bearing in mind that Win 98 is no longer supported by MS...and that Win 98 was constantly being updated when it was supported...experiment at your own peril.

I can't experiment at all until I can get hold of a valid product key.  :(

It is likely that it is on a little sticker, on the back of the case, although it could be inside.

The machine was originally loaded with xp so the key on the sticker is no use with 98.

Just a friendly suggestion: you might want to check the Forum Rules re: assistance via PM & re: providing advice about anything that *might* be illegal (e.g. regarding software licensing/activation).
Those rules are designed to protect all of us. ;-)

I tried a couple of product keys that were on another forum and they were not valid. Have been trying to get hold of a genuine unused key with no success. Tried google etc and even ebay but everything looked dubious.
