I need help with this device, a USB adapter for Rj45 LAN - Chipset Rd9700.
Unfortunately, the drivers provided on the CD are not accepted by Windows 98SE. The device is detected and the installation drivers are requested.
I attach photos for more information.
Image 01 is the product.
Image 02 shows that Windows 98
Image 03 shows that the drivers in the Windows 98 folder on the CD are not accepted. In fact it turns out:
  • Cannot find a driver for this device.
  • Click Next to not install a driver now.
  • Click Back to search again.
Image 04 shows the attempt to install the drivers manually. Right-clicking on Net8150.ini and selecting "install" displays an error message:
  • A peripheral connected to the system is not working.
Solutions?
A thousand thanks. I await news.

If the above does not work

Driver at the bottom of the page. Right click and select Save As.

Edit: I missed cryptodan's post.

(Allora i primi non funzionano)
So while I was waiting, I found these drivers:
Devices with 9700 PID are using dm9601 driver. However, you may need to edit the inf file.
I haven't changed any files because I don't know which file to change and which one.
I have installed these drivers.
The drivers were installed, but he also asked me for the Windows 98 CD.
However the device does not work, it says that it is impossible to load the drivers for this device with the NDIS.VXD device loader, NTKERN.VXD.
The device sees it as DM9601 USB To Fast Ethernet Adapter.
BUT I believe there must be RD9700 and not DM9601. The drivers are not yours.
Then I would like to try to install the second drivers that JohnC_21 recommended me.
However when I try to install them windows always looks for those of DM9601.
How do I completely uninstall them? I deleted the device, but when I recon it, it installs with DM9601 drivers, I deleted the device from safe mode, but on reboot, when I insert the device, it always looks for DM9601 drivers.
In fact, the yellow question mark appears on Other Devices, but instead of the original name USB 2.0 10 / 100M Ethernet Adapter appearing, now DM9601 USB to Fast Ethernet Adapter appears.
How do I completely uninstall these damn drivers?

Already tried, I specified the folder, after searching, but it asks the other drivers.

It insists it must have the dm9usb.cab file

Do you know how VID and PID are controlled?
So to see if the device is the right one?

No. But if I wanted one, I couldn't. All PCI slots are occupied.
