Any good browsers that work with a chrome book that isn't chrome?

I was using duckduckgo , but it has 1 started crashing and 2 will no longer play videos even on youtube the audio plays but the screen goes black, except the ads they still play.

I have tried firefox and edge but they don't seem to want to install.

Is this a case of google trying to force the use of chrome?  I seem to have read where youtube is throttled on firefox. or is it something else?

I had firefox installed a few months back and it did the crashing thing like duck is doing, they don't seem to like a laptop.

  1. Safe Mode / Clean Boot:

Perhaps you didn't notice that the title of this topic clearly states the OP has a Chromebook, admittedly of unspecified make and model. Your splendidly copied and pasted reply refers to Windows and Apple computers and therefore is irrelevant to the OP.

 

I suggest you read topics and their titles more carefully in future before banging off non-relevant posts.

I would backup any data on the drive and then do a hard reset. After the reset do a ChromeOS update. The hard reset takes it back to the day you bought it.
