I purchased a new HP Chromebook about a month ago to see if it might be a viable alternative for my Windows 7 laptop when support ends for that early next year.  I got the Chromebook all set up with 2 different users, got it to print with no issues and everything was fine.  Yesterday, when I turned it on (I do turn it off when not using it), it was like I'd just taken it out of the box.  Had to go through theentire set up procedure and once I'd done that, some things were still there (like a couple of games) but my start page had to be re-set and the printer info was gone.  Any idea what happened and more importantly, how to avoid it from happening again?  As a "newbie" to Chromebooks, I'd appreciate any advice/help you can offer.

I know this goes back to March 2019, however, future readers may want to know, and I would like to know:  OP, did you find the solution?

It seems like your Chromebook experienced a reset or powerwash, which can happen for various reasons. To avoid this in the future, make sure to back up your important data and settings to your Google account regularly. Additionally, be cautious when performing updates or accessing system settings to prevent accidental resets.

Hi, @alex234:

Thanks for your suggestions.
And welcome to BC.

FWIW This thread was started back in March 2019.

Although others have beaten you to it, there's generally no need to revive & continue such old, dormant threads, especially when the Original Posters have abandoned them.

Respectfully submitted

No worries, @alex234.

No harm done.

You weren't the first person to "necro-post" in this thread. :-D
It happens.... :-D

It's a good idea & less confusing for everyone to check the date when a thread was started *before* replying.

Cheers!
