Hey guys:

It's just an extra drive I load my software on and keep docs and pics.  It's a 2.04tb drive it just disappeared?  Doesn't show up in Computer at all.  It does however, show up in Management. It shows up as a 1tb drive. I don't get that. It also says it has to be formatted before I can use it?  I don't want to do that until I get the pics/vids and docs off of it.  So that's the dilemma.  Any thoughts? This is the drive info:

ADATA SM2258AB-10-00821800

Running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

Thanks

Hi, most all solutions to your issue will involve a threat to your files.

Would check if can get in by using one of these : https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/bootable-windows-pe-based-recovery-discs/

Linux would be a better solution to get to the drive and copy everything off.

A drive that suddenly becomes Not Initialized usually indicates a hardware fault. I'm not sure Hirens will be able to do anything with a drive listed as Not Initialized.  How many partitions are on the drive?

Just one. There might be a little one that was on the drive when I bought it. Idk? But it's just one partition I use for everything.

If it doesn't show up then download Testdisk and do a Quick Search on the drive. I'm not sure it will find anything on a not initalized drive but might if it's only the partition table that is affected. If it finds anything post an image after the Quick Search.

On a side note. All of my USB 3 flash drives are not being recognized either when I insert them. USB 2 drives are recognized? Looking more like a hardware problem. I will boot up the other computer tomorrow. I have to dig up the cables etc... to test the ssd.

I would think it is your Drivers.  You do not mention what Motherboard or Branded System make/model you are running.

Go to your Motherboard or Branded System Support Page and Update BIOS if available as well any Driver updates you may have missed.

Looking specifically for USB.  If none would check in Device Manager for what Drivers you are running.  If the happen to be Microsoft stop downloading MS Update Drivers.  Reinstall your Motherboard or Branded System drivers for USB.

All USB Thumb Drivers are formatted @ Fat32.  If using some other then reformat them.
