MY GF has just got this new Humax Aura.

Its good (the old one was on the way out), but - i'm having problems with the HDMI cable. The TV blacks out and stops for a second or two, not much, but obviously it is a bother.

The TV is fairly new LG ( i can get the model number if its needed) , and i'm going through the settings on the Humax, ie 1080/60 etc, but so far none of them have cured it. Is this down to using the supplied HDMI cable, do i need a better one ? Or is there another solution ?

Hi, it possible would be better to take this up  with them in their Forum.

"check is that the HDMI cable is at least type 1.4 or preferably 2.0. Especially if you are using the 3840 x 2160 output of the ..."

https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/humax-aura-1

Not all cables are the same.

NOTE : what is Model information as this would be older stuff.

No model of the Humax Aura.  https://uk.humaxdigital.com/product-category/set-top-boxes/   There seems to be various websites with that name.  Would guess this is it.  Should be something on the Support Page in Video or Manual.

Is 4K so need a cable that supports 4K to 4 K TV.

THe LG has 2 sorts of HDMI port.

Try one of the others and use the cable that came with the Humax.

It is possible that you've used the ARC port (ARC (Audio Return Channel) is a special function of HDMI high-speed certified cables via which the sound can also be sent back to the transmitter.) This might be giving isses and I doubt the Humax box wants the audio back!

Yes but your laptop is not a Humax Aura is it? Let's see what the OP comes back with?

The Aura is almost to clever for it's own good and dedicated Humax forums are full of folks who can't get the box to play nice with their TV's.

I connected the Aura to my mobile phone hotspot, and left it overnight.

When we got up in the morning, she found a few freeview agreements etc to tick, then i checked the update and the new update was there.

Touch wood, it seems to be fine so far.

Thank you everybody for the replies.
