I have a setup in which my Dell 24 inch monitor is on it's desk stand, and it's mounted too high for me to be comfortable, as I experience neck strain. It is not height adjustable. I've raised my chair to a level that helps, but not enough. If I could mount it on the desk without the stand, it would help immensely. The bottom is flat enough and the wires willl have room.

I don't want to do a VESA support. I suppose it would be possible to rig up a wooden stand. Any ideas would be welcome.

Wall mount it.

Or pull desk away from wall and stick it on a shelf that is lower than the desk.

I have the opposite where it is to low and angles forward (LG TV). (not a Dell, never a Dell)

It's set up on a desk, which is 7 inches from the wall, with a 26" by 18" vertical opening. Attached storage cabinet above. Behind the opening is the wall. I don't want it mounted directly on the wall. I'm thinking of a vesa mount with the monitor set at the back horizontal edge of the desk, bottom on the desk, and the other end of the mount on the wall,

You can use something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Single-Monitor-Stand-Adjustable/dp/B07DHK5DHN/

Plenty of other models to choose from.

I use a dual type model, one arm for my monitor, and I use the other arm for a tablet (I screwed in a little piece of engraved wood on its vesa mount to hold the tablet at an angle so it doesn't fall).

The Dell URL speaks of Vesa and compatible mounts I believe.

There's clamp on types like shown by Dominique1 or there's ones that stand on the desk such as this - https://www.amazon.com/Single-Monitor-Standing-MF001-P-WALI/dp/B09KLN3BSN/  These do require the monitor to have VESA compatible mounting holes at the back, but most decent monitors do have this option.  It's always a good idea to double check the dimensions of any stand before buying to make sure they'll suit your requirements.

Thanks, but that doesn't appear to give me the option of setting the monitor, directly on the desk.

Thanks. Looks like it might work.
