Windows 10 - Mouse and Select Text Functions Not Working Properly

Windows 10.  My mouse is driving me bonkers.  It occasionally runs on a super-charge.

If for instance I am on YouTube and I hit the return to previous page arrow, it sometimes goes back two previous pages.  I sometimes play a game online called Bubble Town.  Pressing the mouse button down shoots out a bubble or whatever it is, the purpose to bust a cluster of bubbles.  Sometimes if shoots out two or more bubbles in very rapid succession.  I've adjusted various settings in Mouse Settings and have not been able to get it right.  Is there a way to restore the mouse to default settings?  I didn't find such a button.  At first I thought it might be the mouse and plugged in a second mouse and it also displayed the same issues.  

I am also having trouble with selecting text.  I drag the pointer across the text I want to copy and some of the selection drops off before I have chosen the text. And at other times after I have released the button while selecting text it keeps adding more text I did not select.

 When I am selecting text to copy and I release the button, .And when I click on say the file menu on a program, like Notepad, it opens and zips shut immediately.  It's like the settings are accelerated working at hyper speed.

 

I just want my mouse settings back to default.

I think I found the problem...

 

I got notice to update drivers.  This was after posting the information requested here.  Two of the three installed fine, one failed.  The one that failed stated it might interfere with custom settings.  This is an MSI computer.  The MSI Center app is installed.   This msg has popped up before and I did not try updating it because while it stated there might be issues, I had no further information on that.  I am attaching a screen shot of the driver that will not install.

 

I wonder if I really need the MSI app as I am not as stated, a gamer.  One element on this computer that I cannot get right is the sound.  Sometimes the sound is okay like Youtube videos.  But streaming, like Netflix or other services, the volume is so low I have to sit within a few feet of the speaker.  The MSI app has a demo of the different sound settings, a special one for movies, and there is no change at all.  I have attempted to update the various drivers but to no avail.  I am attaching a screen shot showing all the sound drivers on this machine. 

 

If there is no further action necessary regarding the mouse issue (it seems to be back to normal) should I repost this as a sound issue?

yes, that is the mouse.  Yes, I have changed the batteries and in fact I was using another mouse two weeks ago when these issues began and switched mouses/mice?  The pervious mouse is a Logi M185.

 

As I stated, I am am no longer experiencing the issue.  After I posted the requested information to this post I got a pop-up to install drivers which I did and one of the drivers (see image in my previous post) popped up as the installation failed. 

 

I have been experiencing issues with sound and whether or not I really need the MSI app - but I will create a separate post.  My mouse issues do appear solved...unless anybody adds some new comments.  Thanks.

I thought I had my driver issue settled but recently I am having issues again and I really don't know what to do.  The problem manifests when I click on something like a link online and instead of going back to the previous page it goes back two or more.  If I click on a menu, it drops down and immediately rolls back up.  It's like the driver is on steroids. 

 

This is an MSI laptop (more info at the start of this thread) and I have the MSI software installed - but I don't use it.  I am NOT a gamer - and I wonder if these problems are conflict with those drivers and the Intel drivers I download from online.  I have an automatic Intel driver search app from Intel.

 

If I uninstalled the MSI app (I have issues with sound as is, can barely hear it with streaming services) will my computer automatically replace any items that are supplied by the MSI app? 

 

I do have some music DAWs installed on this computer as well.  Wonder if they cause any conflict???

That sounds like the mouse itself is broken (it's exactly what all of the broken mice I've mentioned here did when they failed), but I don't know why it would be intermittent or why a second (presumably known good) mouse would do the same thing.

As soon as I deleted one of the mice as listed in the device manager - the mouse returned to normal - for a few days.  I used two mice, one was brand new and both acted the same so I doubt it is that both mice were broken.

 

If I delete the mice or uninstall or whatever I have to do - do I also have to remove the USB link?  Are USB links (listed above) linked to individual mice?
