Hi, I'm using a Dell desktop with W11. My HP Deskjet 2132 used to work but no longer does. Having used printers for 30 years (started out with a pin printer) I concluded a long time ago that printers are the most cantankerous, trouble-prone piece of hardware there is.

When I try to print I get the "Printer not activated, error code -30." So I search around and found people who also had the same problem and how to fix it, which it apparently did for them. It was to uninstall the drivers (which I did) and install new ones. I Google drivers for it and go to the HP site.

The site is very confusing, and in the middle of the process a survey window pops up, hides half the page, and there was no way to get rid of it. After several attempts I managed to DL something, although it doesn't show up in the Firefox download history. But I did find this on the hard drive: "HPPrintScanDoctor," installed a half hour ago. There is no icon anywhere for it, not even sure what it is.

The printer does show up in "Settings/Bluetooth and Devices," it says it's "Ready," but it won't print a test page and if I try printing my own file I'm still getting the "Printer not activated, error code -30".

HELP, before I smash this thing.

This would be the full set of drivers for that printer.

Has the printer have internet access or are you only using a USB cable??

Nevermind it is an older printer.

It works! Thank you!

It looked different than what I was previously trying to install, so I had my fingers crossed. I uninstalled whatever it was I installed a couple of hours ago before trying your link.

I printed one page but then I had to change the cartridge. Got the new one in, and got good prints from three different applications so it should be good (until the next crisis).

Thanks again. :)

That reminds me -- I've got a wireless printer that was nothing but trouble since it was new. I gave up on it and am using this old HP workhorse. It worked very well for years up until recently.

I can't believe it's almost been a year, but "the next crisis" is here.

Printer has been working fine, just used it within the past week. Today I go to print something and it didn't work. It went through all the audio gyrations, then made the sound as if it's pulling a sheet of paper in, but nothing happened after that. I looked at it and the "Scan" button was blinking.

I hit the "Print" button, didn't help, hit the "X" button, pulled all the plugs, rebooted my laptop, and somehow got one copy okay, but that was it. It won't print again, it won't print a test page, yet still makes the sound of it trying to pull a sheet in. I've pulled the stack out and reseated it, but it doesn't help.

This makes me think there something wrong internally with the paper feeder, but just guessing.

Help?

Hi, not sure if you have seen this page : https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-deskjet-2130-all-in-one-printer-series/model/7174551  Note the main thing is for Ordering and connected full time to HP.

But there is a Diagnostic Tool there as well 2024 drivers.

A search using some of your words (hp deskjet 2130 fails to grab paper to print) turns this up : https://www.google.com/search?q=hp+deskjet+2130+fails+to+grab+paper+to+print&client=firefox-b-d&sca_esv=c28699f547d6c027&ei=3_D3ZfWPEqW10PEPoPC72AM&oq=HP+DeskJet+2130+fails+to+grab+paper&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiI0hQIERlc2tKZXQgMjEzMCBmYWlscyB0byBncmFiIHBhcGVyKgIIATIFECEYoAEyBRAhGKABSP2XAVCcBljgeHABeAGQAQCYAYEBoAG4DqoBBDE0Lja4AQHIAQD4AQGYAhWgAt0PwgIKEAAYRxjWBBiwA8ICDRAAGIAEGIoFGEMYsAPCAgoQABiABBiKBRhDwgIFEAAYgATCAgYQABgWGB7CAgsQABiABBiKBRiGA8ICBBAhGBXCAgUQIRifBcICBxAhGAoYoAGYAwCIBgGQBgqSBwQxMy44oAeyUw&sclient=gws-wiz-serp

Thanks BC. Reading the link, so far, I've not been able to even see the roller(s) much less clean them. No pictures anywhere.

Curious, did you run the Diagnostic Software ?

Are you using authentic HP cartridges?

I took the covers off per the YT, but still cannot see the rollers. I lightly blew the area out with an airhose, put it back together but no change, still doesn't grab the paper.

Check the back of the printer for a sticker with the manufacture date.

Depending on usage & other factors, these low-spec printers do have a finite life span.
If you're a tinkerer and mechanically handy (which I am not), you *may* be able to get to the rollers to "fix" them, at least temporarily.

As for failure to print the Test Page, that (like it or not) could be due to using non-HP cartridges, or due to clogged ink nozzles or other issues.

And then there are driver/software compatibility issues. The OEMs do not provide updated drivers forever - doing so would be expensive for them & they would rather sell you a new printer.

Bottom line: decide how much time/effort you want to expend trying to resuscitate this old printer vs. cost of a new, Win11 (& beyond) compatible printer.

Just my two cents and worth less
