Internet Connectivity Missing

I recently purchased a Windows Pro 10 computer that I was told did not have internet capability build in.  I stupidly thought I could just stick in a dongle and it would work like my other computers. But no. My question is:  Can I get internet access by purchasing a router? Or is there something else I can do? 

No idea.

I recently purchased a Windows Pro 10 computer that I was told did not have internet capability build in. 

 

This is an impossibility and for two reasons, you would not be able to keep software such an OS and AV protection up to date + you would not be able to download or upload data.

From where did you purchase the PC and are you sure that the seller did not mean that the Ethernet port was broke or that there was no onboard wireless card.

 Can I get internet access by purchasing a router? 

 

How are connecting to the internet if you don`t already have a router.

You are asking for help but are not helping those that are trying to help you, we need the exact model name or number of this HP computer so that we can check the Spec and source the drivers and the Speccy report would tell us what was installed and what hardware is detected.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

1. In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
2. In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
3. Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Just a fyi, there is evidence of unlicensed software on this computer and being that you are getting side by side software errors it could be that Windows 10 is the offending program, it likewise could just mean that Windows is hosed and needs to be clean installed so again we would need the model name or number of the PC so that we can locate any drivers.

MTB shows that you have Speccy installed + you having MTB installed suggests that you have an internet connection.

The OP appears to be having trouble setting up a wireless connection, this could be on an EliteDesk like the one here that ships with a Wlan card or the one at your link which does not, both points are mute as the OP said  "  I stupidly thought I could just stick in a dongle and it would work like my other computers. But no. My question is:  Can I get internet access by purchasing a router? "

A broken/corrupt Windows installation and/or missing drivers are both contenders as being the cause, there is no reason why the wireless dongle will not work otherwise.

Yes. That's my computer.

I have Speccy and MTB installed because I downloaded them with my other computer, put the download on a flash drive and then used the flash drive to install to the Windows 10 computer.  And yes, no problem with wifi on other computers.

I understand that I can plug it into my router. My router is downstairs.  I was wanting/hoping/ to find a way to get this computer's wifi operating because I don't have a place to work downstairs. Sadly, looks like it's impossible without replacing the motherboard.
