Hi there,
I am building a new PC and have created two different builds I am considering. I would like very much that you guys review those builds whether they are functional and if you like comment on what you would build differently.
The first build is based on the Intel i5-12600K and the second is a cheaper build based on the Ryzen 5 5600 (not the X-Variant). I will list the parts I have selected specifically for each build and after that the parts that are the same for both.
The Intel Build
1. Motherboard: MSI MPG Z690 Force WIFI
2. Processor: Intel Core i5-12600K
3. Memory: Corsair Vengeance black DIMM Kit 32GB, DDR5-6000, CL36-38-38-76, on-die ECC
The AMD Build
1. Motherboard: GIGABYTE B550M AORUS Pro-P
2. Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600
3. Memory: G.Skill RipJaws V black DIMM Kit 32GB, DDR4-3200, CL16-18-18-38
also a WIFI card cause the MoBo doesn't have one build in.
Common Parts
4. Power supply: Cooler Master V-Series V750 Gold V2 White Edition 750W (Black edition is a bit cheaper, but white looks nicer; also for AMD build 650W would be enough, but costs almost the same as the 750W)
5. Solid State Drive: Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 2TB, M.2 (for games and programs)
6. Hard disk drive: Seagate BarraCuda Compute 4TB (for storing video, audio and pictures)
7. Video card: 8GB XFX Radeon RX 580 GTS Black (a bit old, but I already have one that I barely used)
8. Blu-Ray drive: ASUS BW-16D1HT (I still have lots of CDs and DVDs I may need to read, so why not upgrade to Blu-Ray while I am at it)
9. Operating System: Windows 11
10. CPU Cooler: will be determined later, I don't think I can make much wrong there as long as it fits the MOBO and is strong enough for the CPU (which I will not overclock as that is not my thing)
11. Case: will be determined later, but ATX formfactor, even though the B550M AORUS Pro-P is µATX
12. Thermal Compound: I will try a graphite pad
