Have you tried any of the fixes mentioned at Windows Defender Shows Blank Screen-How to Solve? - MiniTool Partition Wizard

This is a known issue due to a January 2024 Windows 11 update. See the recommended solution posted by Ramesh Srinivasan in this topic (Windows security stuck on black screen after opening). There have been numerous reports in recent weeks and the suggested fix worked for most folks.

Thanks for that!

Is KB5034123 the culprit?

(Just curious, as I don't see anything about it HERE)

Or is it an Insider Preview build?

I'm not sure which specific update is the cause. As far as I can ascertain, Microsoft has been silent about this issue.

Microsoft did not issue an update to deliberately cause this...it was caused by an issue with the update itself. This has happened several times before and one reason many folks wait a few weeks before doing their updates.

I just installed the January/February updates and Defender is working fine so it looks like Microsoft fixed the issue.
