Nowadays, many modern Desktop and Portable Web Browsers are available for users to browse the Internet, such as follows:

The Desktop Editions are Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, Sleipnir, Vivaldi, Brave Chromium, Chromium Stable, Microsoft Edge Chromium, and Opera GX.

The Portable Ones are Mozilla Firefox Portable, Vivaldi Portable, Sleipnir Portable, Brave Portable, Google Chrome Portable, Opera Portable, and Opera GX Portable.

Good luck! :)

Is there an advantage (especially regarding security) with using a portable browser?  Is Tor safer?

The point of using a portable browser is more privacy and security, it is easy to "uninstall" by deleting the folder you extracted it to, and it does not create any registry keys.

The Tor browser is also more private and safer than standard browsers, but due to its design, it is much slower than those browsers.

Good luck! :)

I prefer using Mozilla Firefox for general browsing, Mozilla Firefox Portable for online banking, and Chromium Stable for various purposes. :thumbup2:

Dumb question - I can use both on the same machine?  Does the portable version leave any credit card information on my machine?  If I understand it correctly, when I use a credit card online, the card information is stored someone on my machine?  Thanks.

Yes, but you cannot run them simultaneously, and yes, Mozilla Firefox Portable will save all its data in the one folder you "install" it, for example, in C:\Users\YourUserName\Downloads\FirefoxPortable.

It will leave no traces anywhere else on your machine, and yes, when you use a credit card online, the card information is stored in the Mozilla Firefox Portable folder.

Good luck! :)
