Nice! Arch and other distro's based on Arch (Manjaro / Antergos) have always seemed to be my favorite.

Security software: ESET NOD32 as main AV. Malwarebytes, Emsisoft, Zemana with all real-time protection disabled. Scan as needed.
Backup: Crashplan
Firewall: Behind household router & Windows Firewall Enabled
Network Monitoring: Glasswire

Future plans:

Upgrade to Windows 10
Setup a endpoint protection type setup so I can manage the AV for all the computers in my household.

I went for many years not even having antivirus installed. While I do not recommend it, if you are diligent, paranoid, and have backups its doable.

Personally, I think I was ultimately foolish, because the risks were not worth it.

Being a cyber security engineer... this is probably going to sound bad.

Windows 10 64 bit:

UAC: Default (notify me when apps try and make changes)

Threat protection: Windows Defender

Browser: Chrome - WOT, ADGarud AdBlocker

Backup and data recovery: Google drive (I do have a file share setup locally... but my server has been offline for a while)

Copy pasta of what Nick said for LInux.

Once I started using W10 more regularly I stopped downloading antivirus. Defender is just as good for me, and as I am the only one that uses my PCs, I know where I go. If its potentially a shady site, I boot Linux and use that. I go to pretty regular sites on Windows and haven't had a virus in years.

OS - Ubuntu 14.04/16.04 & Windows 10

I am just amazed I have not been infected yet. The amount of malware I have on machine from when I test it for guides and for researching a story is a bit scary. Should prob do something about that!
