Up until six months ago I had was trouble free for four years with just internet on cable from comcast.  No TV.  When I bought an Amazon fire stick for TV and installed it in line with the TV  on an HDMI port.  I researched the MAC address and added it to the routers list.  Next I started a Sling account from the phone.  Within a couple days of some long hours on the Sling channels, I begin to get dumps from the modem that dropped the router too.  Each had to reset and that interupted the stream, a reset of the fire stick and resign in of Sling was needed to resume.  My thought was that this was deemed an illegal tactic and to be dealt with severely.  I guess it's just like the do not call list.  It doesn't work and can't be enforced.

For the last two weeks my Comcast internet service has dropped and restarted. Others that I have Zoom meetings with are experiencing the same thing. I don't know what's going on with Comcast, but they are having problems.

Do you rent your modem and/or router from Comcast or did you purchase your own to use with the service?

I ask because in the past when we used to rent our modem and router from Comcast, they weren't always that proactive about informing you when you needed a new, updated model to keep up with changes to the service.

I believe they're better about it these days and will contact you by e-mail and/or other venues if you need to get new versions of rented hardware, but it might be worth looking into.

If you use your own, Comcast has a page dedicated to checking if a modem is approved for your current level of their Internet service.

Here's one Xfinity article that covers these topics - https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/replace-your-xfinity-equipment .
