Hi Guys,
Recently I have been having some weird issues with my Nexus Player streaming over 5Ghz from my Rpi4-based Plex media server. When direct playing media I often get buffering/lag (h264 AAC 720p 1Mbps file) but when transcoding is enabled there is pretty much no issues. Whilst the playback info says the transcoded stream is still 'h264 AAC 720p 1Mbps', I can see the bitrate/resolution is decreased so that sucks.
iPerf3 testing (from PC wired to router to NP) nets ~10Mbps. Better than 1Mbps but still poor.
The NP has line of sight (5m) to the router (TP link AX10).
Can copy files from PC to Rpi4 media server via router at >20MB/s (160Mbps) so the Rpi4 doesn't seem to be the issue.
So I have a bandwidth issue between my router and NP right? Nope. Internet speedtests with analiti on my NP return 70Mbps down and 20Mbps up. So what gives?
I'm going to assume it is just the router being weird. I was previously using an RT-AC68U and it was flawless. The AX10 has given me better reception upstairs (500Mbps+) but not being able to get 600Mbps+ in the same room is odd. Could be a Plex issue perhaps?
Any help appreciated.
Taylor
EDIT: Ok so turns out my iperf is a bit rusty... was running it wrong and from PC->router->NP the bandwidth is actually ~140Mbps over 30 seconds. So it must be either a Plex thing or a Nexus Player thing?
