We set up a Sono SL speaker, i guess you could call it a 'smart speaker' , i hooked it up in our dining room and had to give it local network access on a phone to properly connect the phone to the speaker, which is the only method we wanted to control the speaker with.  Then later today i notice that on my desktop PC's Itunes, theres a symbol next to the volume control with a drop down menu indicating whether i want to be connected to 'My Computer' or 'Dining Room' , dining room being what we named the Sono SL speaker.

My question and slight concern, is i never did anything on my desktop PC to allow the device to connect, Bluetooth is not even turned on for my desktop PC, and its hardwired via ethernet cable, doesn't even have Wifi.  Is this because on the phone i gave the Sono SL access to the local network?  We even tested it and it works when i connect to the Sono SL from my PC.

Not sure if i posted this in the correct section, i assumed because its some sort of network device this thread would work.  Im genuinely curious how this Sono's speaker automatically connected to my Desktop PC with no prompt, confirmation, notification or anything.

It is because the speaker is sending a beacon out every now and then showing devices that it is available to be used as a sound output device.
