I'm writing a book and am using Word 2021. I'm using Windows 10 on my PC.

I have to indent block quotes but when I do, the left margin also indents. I want to simply indent the block quote and have the 1" left margin remain at 1". This is driving me crazy and I can't find a solution.

Yes, they haven't sent me a solution that works yet. It's very frustrating because it is something that recently started happening. In the past, I would highlight block text then either use the tab key or the indent tool in the home group and that would indent only the highlighted block text. Now the block text still indents but the margins below it also indent creating a new inargin of 1.5" (the original margin was set to 1" and my indents are .5"). The only way I can appear to indent the block text without moving the margins is by creating a blank line below and above the block text. The problem is that this is for a book to be published and I can't add meaningless blank lines around block text quotes. I did use the Microsoft  repair tool but that didn't resolve the problem.

It appears that Word is associating all text following a highlighted block of text as part of that paragraph. This is driving me crazy.
