Hello

I've enjoyed using Frontpage for years-  until hosts made it ever-more difficult.  Now that they've made it impossible I need an acceptable alternative that I can use locally on my Win 7 machine.  Is there one ?

If not, are there any simple drag-and-drop online alternatives to Frontpage ?

I already have a domain-  which is still up-  but I can't access the site to update it anymore.

It's a UK outfit that I'm anxious to leave.  I'll get a new host when I've solved my problem.

Check your hosting provider for SFTP/FTP Access to your site, or check cPanel if they use it, can you also link us so we may assist you?

I haven't used Windows 7 for many years.
So, I don't know first-hand which applications still support it.

Uncle Google offers the following:

No, I don't want any further dealings with these hosts.

I want a local web site builder and then I'll find a new host for my domain.

No, it's well outdated.  Nobody supports it anymore.    Maybe it was too easy for users to create and maintain their own sites.  The advent of online template sites is a more lucrative market, I guess.   That's probably why I'm having difficulty finding an alternative.

There isn't that much that you can use out there as most hosts and sites already include a website designer.

Your use of frontpage should still work for a website they cannot limit it on the other end.

Thanks for that-   but it looks complicated compared to Frontpage.    I don't code at all and I don't understand the terms.

They say that Frontpage is too insecure for their server updates.

OK-  looks like I'm going to have to go with some half-assed templates with a new host.

Thanks anyway-  it was worth checking in.

Frontpage can still be used unless you use Frontpage extensions then it won't workout.

Yes, Frontpage 2003 should upload OK using FTP ( it has an inbuilt FTP function )  ...but it won't with my current hosts-  who claim that their recent server security upgrades prevent it.

You can save in Frontpage and upload separately using Filezilla via SFTP or through cPanel

OK-  thanks.   Can you recommend a host ?   I need to leave the one I have quickly.  They are going to introduce impractical security layers just to log in.

It would be very satisfying to still be able to maintain my domain with Frontpage.
