ranchhand, The OP asked about SOFTWARE, your answer provided information about hardware.

I use Adobe to edit my videos, but Sony also makes a good program.

If by "basic" you mean simple to use or easy to learn, then a good one is  OpenShot.

Another one you might want to try in case you buy a Samsung Camcorder HMX may be Intelli-Studio, which comes with the camcorder.  There is a way to download and install onto your computer from the camcorder.

I hope I am not confusing the topic, but I am interested in what users can say about the ease of use and anything else comparing and contrasting the products:  OpenShot, ShotCut, and Intelli-Studio video editors.

I use https://fastreel.com/ online video editor. Simple to use and very easy to learn. I use it to create simple videos. No downloads required! I do everything online.

OpenShot is perfect for beginner and it is a free to use as well but sooner or later you would want to do some advance editing and then the transition to advance softwares like Adobe premier pro or Final cut pro would be difficult. The learning curve is very high. But if you don't plan to do advance editing then OpenShot is good to go.
