Hi:

I recently installed VMWare Player 16 into Windows 10. After a while, I noticed two oddities:

1. My Ethernet adapter connection name in Network Connections was renamed to the name of one of my WiFi SSIDs. Huh? I've talked to someone else who's experienced this, but I don't know if it's fixable. A post to VMWare's forums got no replies.

2. VMWare's virtual adapters seemed to interfere with Windows' media sense on my main Ethernet adapter. So Windows would keep reporting that the cable was disconnected even as it was sending and receiving packets. Again, no answers on VMWare's forunms.

Because of some testing I'm doing right now, i need media sense to work properly.

Does anyone have any suggerstions ?

Have you tried upgrading VMware? Are you using 16.0, 16.1, 16.2? I believe 16.2.4 is the latest version.

What version/OS build of Windows are you using? I've seen some posts where VMware Player interferes with media sense on the latest versions of Windows 11.

Hello Shplad, You may recall that I had issues with my Network and even replaced my Gateway 3 times trying to understand why, after setting up Home wifi network, the very moment I would connect it to the Gateway, the Gateway would throw my device (phone for setup connection) OUT of the Gateway and tell me to check my connection and make sure I was connected to the right Surfboard connection.......

And yes, I just created said connection, and joined the Gateway TO my connection --- which of course required us to be connected to the same network......

I had mentioned that the Virtual environment was altered by either the VMs that were showing up on my machine ever since I had enabled Hyper V ---- or someone had enableld it.... ? ?

And I spoke to a guy with Azure who kinda gave me a short rundown of how HyperV or HyperVisor (i don't remember at the moment) would immediately take over your Network and create a Switch.... Which indeed fits my problems....

Anyway, found this website about VMware Player and within the course of it are a few informational links about Networking within VMware. Just thought I'd share, in case you haven't come across it.
