Just for practice, I used android mobile device and the duckduckgo browser to visit bleeping computer and the forum, just for practice and whatever I might learn.  Again.  (Android version 9).

Problem is, the forum only displays in the Full, desktop form. NOT in the mobile form.   I looked for any settings in the browser so I may remove or clear some cookies or browser history but I found NOTHING..   NOTHING!    So I tried just closing the browser; and opened it again to visit B.C. forum, but still stuck in the full, desktop form.  I wonder if anybody knows if some way is possible to bring up B.C. forum and to start it in the mobile form.

Something Else - maybe should be a separate topic -

but while first visiting Bleeping Computer (tonight), on mobile device in duckduckgo browser, I found I was on the BC main page, and I saw an interesting article about WordPad being planned to be removed soon.  I wanted to make a comment about the news, so I .... signed in.  But then as I scrolled down to look for where I could compose my comment, I was required to sign in; which I thought I just did.  So I signed in again.  Eventually I was presented an error I forgot what it said, and I have no image to show.

  (

I am right now on Windows 10 desktop , G. Chrm. incognito mode while writing this posting.  (and I'll look for that article on the B.C. main page again now that I'm on desktop machine.)

Hi, there is no mobile form.  Site will go down to tablet or small laptop size.

If you take your browser down from full screen then resize it you will resize as mentioned.

The site was not built with Responsive Design (resizes to the viewers screen).

It would be a major rework to do so.

Wordpad had .rtf fans but is a risky format to open. So good bye, never used it unless had to for Word if it would work.    As article said when removed ask for it in the MS Store.

Notepad fan as used to build websites in it and still can (sorta).

Hi, @cafejose:

We understand that you've reported issues with viewing and using this forum several times, including in topics started by others, such as:
https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/789269/app-for-forums/

We understand that it is frustrating for you.
As explained several times, the anomalous behavior is likely due to:
1) your older hardware
2) your old, unsupported version of Android OS (version 11 is currently the oldest supported version)
3) your mobile browser
4) the forum software and/or forum website coding
5) a combination of some/all of the above

As other users do not have and cannot replicate your issues, that would seem to point to #1-3.
Many forum members post here using their phone, as I am doing now.

I don't know how to fix that for you without a hardware upgrade (new phone).

I hope someone else can better assist you.

Cheers

PS Yes, WordPad is being deprecated. There are other, newer, supported applications to take its place.

Typo fixed

Well, that's important feedback.
Thanks for that
Glad to know that the forum works even on older hardware.

But it deepens the mystery about why @cafejose is having so many problems.

I'm on a modern Android device, Android 13 and the current build of Firefox.
No issues.
Specifically, even when I switch to "full version" (desktop mode), it is back in mobile mode the next time I open my browser. I can't explain why it appears to "stick" in desktop mode for @cafejose.
Perhaps this narrows the issue to his browser and/or browser settings?

By posts #3, 4, & 5,  if or when I try another checking and practice, I should try again in Google Chrome.

I've had the forum stick in desktop mode on Android phones, more than once and different phones with different Android versions.

The way I clear it is to simply 'Close' or 'Quit' the browser and when you reopen it BC forum is back in tablet/phone mode.

One problem with smartphones is that people tend to leave everything open and running all the time - so the apps, particularly the browsers, never get chance to clear their caches.
(Then they complain that their phone has slowed right down and ask can you do anything to help - Yeah, start with the old cliche, "Try powering it off and on again.)

Just reboot your phone to get out of full desktop mode, and make sure that Desktop Site is not selected in your browser, and also clear cache and cookies.

It appears that the necrospam was removed.

So, now it's back to being just a regular, old thread. :-D

Cheers
