With problems like this you need to troubleshoot methodically and step-by-step. I'm not getting the feeling that you're doing that.

If Safe Mode (or Ubuntu) suggest that the hardware is good, then a clean boot of Windows is the next obvious step. Try it first with no third-party drivers loaded, and then gradually enable third-party drivers in group[s until you encounter the problem.

Thank you all so much, I've pensioned off my Matebook because of overheating issues. I guess the [former] thermal grease and the fan couldn't save my hardware.

As soon as I moved my SSD straight into my new [refurbed] Lenovo t490s, Windows woke up from deep sleep, retrieved the right drivers and updates and in the end 23H2 showed up and it works as a charm.

I'll use these Easter days off for some cleaning, enriched by your advices of course.

Again, bless you for all your patience and kindness. It means a lot even if I 'disappeared'.

Hi, Welcome

fyi you should be doing a clean install as the SSD has the Chipset and drivers for your old system in it.

It can cause issues,

As well you are not to use Microsoft Update Drivers when you have drivers from the maker of your new system.

The name of which Lenovo t490s is incomplete missing 20Y maybe.

If so then these are the drivers you should be running :

So yes, we will be seeing you sooner or later.
