Then the best short-term solution is probably to buy a USB CD/DVD/Blu-Ray player.

So I went to device manager this morning and went to hidden devices and it listed the cd/dvd unit. This is the error message it showed.
"Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)
To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."
How would I reconnect it to the computer?
