I'm not sure if the update being stuck as it is will prevent new updates from downloading. I have not had any updates show in Win Update since the HP issue. I have a Lenvo with an HP Printer extension (via EDGE) installed so I can print to another computer in the house.

Hi,

Step by step instructions to fix a stuck Windows update

1. Ensure the updates truly are trapped

2. Turn it now and again once more

3. Check the Windows Update utility

4. Run Microsoft's troubleshooter program

5. Dispatch Windows in Safe Mode

6. Return in time with System Restore

7. Erase the Windows Update document store yourself

8. Dispatch a careful infection check

9. Run a full Windows reset

1. Ensure the updates truly are trapped

We're going to make a great deal of progress here for a few forms of Windows and an assortment of 'stuck' situations, so you may need to change a portion of these means to suit your circumstance and programming.

The primary point to make is that meddling with refreshes that aren't really stuck can cause a large group of issues, so you need to ensure they truly are trapped.

In the event that you have the time, and the tolerance, we'd prescribe holding up a few hours, particularly with more slow machines – proceed to cut the grass or watch a film. It might appear to be outrageous, yet you would prefer not to begin intruding with these essential procedures except if you truly need to.

2. Turn it now and again once more

Do you know why "have you had a go at turning it now and again once more" is such an IT support buzzword? Since it so regularly works. There's no enchantment stunt to this – it just gets out your PC's transitory memory (counting any slowed down documents or procedures), and lets Windows start again without any preparation with everything on the framework.

On the off chance that your updates are stuck out of sight while you despite everything approach Windows, you can restart as ordinary; in the event that they're stuck previously or after the OS loads, you will need to hold down the force fasten and do a hard reset. This can cause issues itself, so ensure your updates unquestionably aren't advancing in any way.

3. Check the Windows Update utility

In Windows 10 you can discover the Windows Update page by propelling the Settings application from the Start menu and clicking Update and Security – in the event that there's something incorrectly and Windows realizes what it is, at that point you should discover subtleties here. At times you'll simply get a message instructing you to attempt the update again at an alternate time.

On the off chance that you click 'Propelled alternatives' and afterward 'View your update history', you can see as of late introduced refreshes that were fruitful, and uninstall a few or every one of them – once more, this can be a helpful investigating choice. Windows 10 has really streamlined the update procedure, so you ought to be seeing less blunders.

4. Run Microsoft's troubleshooter program

Microsoft sympathizes with your torment: it realizes the update procedure can cause issues sometimes, which is the reason it's built up a troubleshooter program explicitly for it – look the old Control Panel for "investigating", at that point select 'Fix issues with Windows Update' from the rundown on-screen.

The connection ought to be accessible in Windows 7 and 8 as well, yet in the event that not you can get at it on the web too. All things considered, on the off chance that you haven't yet moved up to Microsoft's best in class working framework, at that point it's presumably still worth your time and energy, as it's more than liable to take care of your update issues simultaneously.

5. Dispatch Windows in Safe Mode

Experimental Mode resembles a restart with additional items – just the essential applications and code that Windows needs to run are stacked into memory, so there's even less possibility of a maverick, harmed record meddling with the update. In Windows 10, hold down the Shift key at that point pick Power and Restart from the Windows sign-in screen.

On the following screen you see pick Troubleshoot, Advanced Options, Startup Settings and Restart, and you should then observe the Safe Mode alternative show up: take a stab at going through the update procedure again in the event that you can. A speedy inquiry online will give you Safe Mode directions for more established forms of Windows.

6. Return in time with System Restore

Framework Restore has been useful for taking care of Windows issues for some a year now, yet it happens to be very much covered up in Windows 10. Go to Control Panel, System, System Protection and afterward click System Restore. Experience the wizard, at that point pick 'Show more reestablish focuses' to see all your accessible choices.

Pick a period and date, at that point total the wizard to return to how Windows was designed by then (and ideally unravel your update issues simultaneously). The procedure doesn't influence your own documents or projects, however it may not be accessible to you contingent upon how Windows was initially set up.

7. Erase the Windows Update document store yourself

On the off chance that Windows' own troubleshooter doesn't work (see stage 4) at that point you can attempt to complete a similar procedure yourself physically: halting the Windows Update administration, erasing the brief records it's made, at that point beginning Windows Update once more. It's somewhat more included, yet it's not hard to do.

To begin with, boot up into Safe Mode (see stage 5), at that point access to the order brief, the most essential of Windows interfaces: right-click on the Start menu, pick Command Prompt (Admin), and a book box ought to show up. Type "net stop wuauserv" and hit Enter, at that point follow that with "net stop bits" and hit Enter once more.

8. Dispatch a careful infection check

One of the more dark reasons why a Windows update probably won't introduce is on the grounds that an infection or a spyware is blocking it: malevolent applications like these can regularly be squashed by Windows security refreshes, which is the reason they attempt and prevent the most recent patches from being introduced on your machine.

Take a stab at running a full and careful infection examine utilizing whatever security programming you have introduced (you do have some introduced, right?). On the off chance that you think your antivirus apparatus has likewise been undermined you can download some on-request scanners, similar to this one from Microsoft or this one from Dr. Web.

9. Run a full Windows reset

Reestablishing key Windows documents and OS choices is significantly simpler than it used to be, and 'resetting' Windows 10 fundamentally implies putting all the framework records back to their processing plant state without contacting your own records en route (in spite of the fact that you can decide to wipe your drive totally on the off chance that you need).

You can discover the choice through the Recovery tab on the Update and Security page in the Settings application – note that outsider applications are evacuated as well, so these will require introducing once more. Windows 8 offers both 'invigorate' and 'reset' alternatives, while on Windows 7 the reset choice will regularly have been given by the PC's producer.

Thanks

Although it is an Insider Build, that problem is unique. https://www.tenforums.com/windows-10-news/152141-windows-10-insider-preview-fast-build-19582-1001-march-12-a.html

You always have to expect some bug with Insider Builds.

Edit: How did you install that build, was it a clean install or an update? If an update, were you using an Insider build before this one? If a clean install, did you create your own ISO file from ESD files or from Cacanical files? I always make my own ISO file from the individual ESD files although I use to use the Cananical method.

bradrony, I will try out your recommendations. Rocky Bennett, the build was installed via Win Update. I had an insider build prior. Just to make sure I am being clear, I initiated the HP Driver download accidently. I did not want it and I'm trying to remove it from my system.

What made you join the Insiders Club? The rule of thumb is never run an Insider Build on your main PC. I use a separate SSD to run Insider Builds and I also have the regular public version of Windows 10 on a separate SSD.

Do a clean install and that will fix it. A clean install only takes a few minutes and then you will be all set.
