Pk Shadow,
You seem to have made my day!
Great find and what a relief to find it was such a simple solution once one knows how.
I used to think that a PC repair local Shop I enquired about were likely to charge me 60 GBP to do just basic type repairs,
But , The one I enquired about said that they would charge about 15 GBP for labour...IF they were to remove and replace the dvd disc drive...Plus they said they could offer a replace dvd disc drive for 10 GBP.......which was a lot less than I expected...maybe due to the financial crisis we have in the UK at the moment. since the Ukraine Russia / Energy cris etc crisis / + covid.
They have reduced their prices to what they were quite considerably ....
But would had charged me 15 GBP to more or less just remove one screw..
It is similar to the one that was shown in some of the videos I posted, except... the screw removed in those videos was inside the battery compartment,
where as the Dell Inspiron 1501 is just on the rear casing just above the battery ...
BUT MANY thanks for you help.
I am hoping now I should be able to at least sort the dvd disc drive problem out... and Hope just purchase a replacement dvd drive.
also The shop I contacted did say that they had a Linux network wireless adaptor for 10 GBP
which I may purchase as it saves me having to deal with any online ordering where I may have issues with the enforced banking verification wanting me to give them a mobile number..
which I dont want to do....that Many websites have now brought in...the last few months... (That was Not the case in several websites I used to use maybe 6 to 12 months ago)
Very Best regards...
