I tried doing the "have disk" thing but it told me that they are incorrect drivers

Possible the card is defective? Is this Windows 98 or Windows 98SE?

Windows 98 SE.

Talking to the guy on eBay who sold it to me. He is trying to help me too. He said it was verified working.

Unless something happened during shipment, the seller is 100% sure it is a working card

Was the card installed before doing the Windows 98SE install? If not, then I would do a clean reinstall 98SE if that is possible.

I do not want to do that. I have a TON of files, saved games, and such that I am NOT willing to lose

Thing is everything that we have tried should have worked and solved your issues.

Hello. I am the seller of this $11 CT4700 with free postage sound card and the buyer pointed me to this forum. I think it would be easier to help him here than via the ebay's return case message boxes. The card was tested and I have one 100% identical at my disposal now which I had to use in order to test the Windows 98 drivers on one of my vintage PCs. I have just installed and verified the sound under win 98. I used these drivers on a clean Windows 98 SE running from a 2GB flash card: https://www.vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=1954&menustate=0

I have been shown a screenshots from the buyer that the card appears as PCI device in pre boot BIOS table of his computer and in their win98 Device Manager:

I've just been told that MIDI works. To me this means that the sound card works perfectly but there is a huge mess with the win98 integrity on that particular buyer's computer. What do you think? If the buyer does not want to try on different installation/OS then I am hesitating as to how to proceed? Maybe with DOS?

I have been trying to use CCleaner to remove old entries of other drivers that did not work and starting over

I tried completely wiping the Creative drivers and installing the ones he linked me and I can only get midi to work

Some updates

I get this while trying to play wav, aif, and mp3 files: https://i.imgur.com/0TcA7d1.jpg

Midi works

I get this as well: https://i.imgur.com/Mfs3zcO.jpg

Drivers are going to be in more than one place.  Why not clean install it.  Seemed was doing that all the time back then.

Anyhooooo see if can adjust the search term here : https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=Creative+SoundBlaster+driver+archive to find it in archive.org

It would seem to be the place if have not looked as of yet.
