IBM retail/consumer division for desktop/laptop got bought by Lenovo. There are the first years version of Lenovo that are actually still IBM designed/built, if you can find them - the old ThinkBook got continued on with the first versions of Lenovo.
OTOH to consider for a newer laptop are not the consumer products, but instead something like a HP reconditioned "business" laptop.
So instead of buying an HP Envy get a HP EliteBook or ProBook. These are very well built, are reconditioned to almost new and usually are reasonabley priced. These maybe older but are still cheaper than buying a brand new laptop and are very durable. DELL and other OEMs offer reconditioned business laptops as well, again very well built and cheaper than retail.
These will come with a SSD and the latest Windows (10/11), most often the laptop battery was replaced with new and if needed the power supply brick was old or worn it was replaced with new.
Just something to consider.
