how to take a screenshot in chromebook
There are a lot of reasons only you would have experienced this if it was due to an update.

If I don't reply right away it's because I'm waiting for Windows 10 to Update.

PC PUNK: NO, I have only one User Name. Why would you think that? I assume trolls and troublemakers do that. That's not
I know how to take a screenshot - he wants a pic of the popup in lower right that contains the screen capture box which, when clicked on disappears and goes to the full screen and whatever you have on it. How can you take a pic of the popup box itself when it disappears when you click on "screen capture." I'm over my head here. I took a pic of it with my phone but couldn't upload it to this site using the phone. There was no attachment paper clip that I'm used to seeing. The main point is that popup box never contained a "cast screen" icon on any of my 3 Chromebooks. That had to be from an update - what else could it be? I did not do anything. No hard resets or powerwashes. You're saying an update CAUSED the problem and another update FIXED the problem?? Other posters would be on here by the hundreds. How can one person have this issue? Can an update FIX or CAUSE a keyboard to malfunction - that is the question here.

I'm not following your wording, just take a pic of the desktop as it is.
Host it on a free hosting site like tinypic, imgur etc. Then post the link here.

Click More Reply Options next to the Post button. There you will see the option to attach an image.
Does the popup disappear when you use the key combination for a partial screenshot?
Press Ctrl + Alt +
to take a partial screen screenshot.

Cryptodan: I did take the pic but couldn't retrieve it and upload it to here. I'm over my head now. All I know is that popup box changed somehow which seemed to coincide with the keyboard issue clearing up. My tiny brain figures whatever changed that popup fixed the keyboard too. Correlation doesn't prove causation - or, in this case maybe it does??? Something FIXED it. All of a sudden the keys are perfect and there's a different popup box in the lower right corner with a different configuration. Maybe just a coincidence?? Maybe they found a way to make these things malfunction so you go out and buy a new one like I did and then fix it after they see the purchase. hahahahahahaha I lost my tinfoil hat!!
What is this "cast screen" thing doing on there in that box out of nowhere?? Is that new??

PC PUNK: I'm guessing you're not the only one who can't follow what the heck I'm doing.
I will get the images on here - it will take time but I will figure it out.
The question remains for anybody here: Can an update CAUSE or FIX a keyboard malfunction like the one I had?
If an update did not fix it then what else could? Remember, I stopped with resets and powerwashes and just let the keys malfunction for quite a while.
There was no reason to keep doing resets and powerwashes - I probably did 3 or 4 of both and nothing happened so I just gave up and bought the Acer.
JohnC: I just clicked on the time on lower right and brought up the box and then did what you said and the box stayed there.

Using that key combination should turn the cursor into a cross-hair so you can window around what you want for a partial screen capture.
I don't know why an update would fix your key problem especially since a powerwash and hard reset failed.

JohnC : I followed your instructions - it worked perfectly! I captured a pic of the new popup box. Just have to get it on here now. Will go back and rereread directions here.
I'm making progress - slow, but progress.

That's from the expired Samsung. That was on the HP with the keyboard issues before it got changed to the box I posted.

That's it. The popup window changed and the keyboard issue resolved with that change as far as I can tell.
This Samsung with the expired AUE date is still fine but I'm guessing that the popup would have been changed if it could get updates.
Just a guess...
