No I do not think so , I put the pictures up above so you can see what kind of twisty things they are. Its like a black toothpick that slides into a clear plastic part ... I get how it ment to go push and twist but it has never been easy or felt like it was done up correctly and maybe it hasnt been thats why the thermal paste was so dried out and came off super easy

Are the fasteners the round, black things I see? It's hard to tell, and I am not sure about what I see, but usually if you use a wide-bladed screwdriver, push down and twist counter-clockwise it releases. The only other I have seen is a standard screw that screws down into a receiving socket.

The fasteners are in the corners like in the image.

Thanks Dan....yeah, I see the slots and usually that is for screwdriver access. Usually insert the screwdriver head, push down and turn. Other than that I have no idea without having it in front of me to work on.

Suggestion: turn it over and see if there is a little "finger" (usually spring-loaded that keeps it retracted) that projects at a right angle that rotates when the top-slot is pushed in and turned.  If so, that is the correct procedure.

thank cryptodan

thats the kind of screws I have this one does not have the springs in it though that would make it easier i guess cause then at least I would know when I'm starting in the right place

thanks ranchhand_ very helpful suggestions

I got it back together I'm not 100% it's correct it still seems a little wobbly. I will be ordering a new fan and heatsink + more thermal paste.

The computer is starting but stil has the same problem off shutting down, I was running speed fan to see the CPU temps and it shut down when it was in the 40 deg cel with a green tick because I was watching it when it shutdown. Not to hot at all.

Still looking for more possibilities on the problem  I will be checking that power button as ranchhand_ suggested as well as going back to the hubbies PSU to see is it stops shutting down like last time I put it in for a hole week and no problem (fingers crossed at narrowing faults)

Since my pc is not  working I will be checking in to bleeping regular when I can on hubbies laptop

it still seems a little wobbly.

If the CPU heatsink is not 100% installed correctly, the CPU will overheat almost instantly and the computer with auto-shut down immediately. I have had it happen. If the heatsink with the fan is the least bit "wobbly" it is not installed correctly.

They don't have springs they have clips

Screenshot-20240317-013301-Amazon-Shoppi

See the clip you push down and turn to click tgat clip. The lip of it will hold the cpu down once it's secure.

quick progress update:

I took the graphics card out and used the on board blue video socket  and the pc still turned off after about 20 mins

next I swapped the PSU with the hubby again  his PC has my PSU and my PC has his

so far the pc has run non stop for about 3 hours so far

CPU running at a reasonable temperature

questions though it is still early

why does my pc run with the hubbies PSU with out turning off?

why does my pc turn off when my PSU is installed?

why did my pc turn off when a brand new just bought PSU was installed?

none of this is making any sense to us

The only way to directly test a power supply is by using a dedicated tester. Mine has saved me hours of head-scratching when troubleshooting a desktop computer.
