I got the pc working for the moment

I got the new cpu fan and paste But I just dont like how wobbly it is it's the same kind of fan as I had with those plastic clips and it's just not going well .  If the pc is laying down flat like it is now its running at a normal temp but just carefully with 2 ppl putting it back in its place is enough to knock the fan loose.

I need a better type of fan some different kind of way it attaches to the mother board Any Suggestions?

ok so it has been a while since I posted took some time to get parts and things secured

(when I say turns off I mean the lights are on and the fans are spinning and nobody it home of and the monitor goes black screen)

I tried different power supplies and it still turns off

I got some screws and secured the clean newly pasted cpu fan and heatsink to the mb it still turned off

I took out the graphics card and ran the monitor through the on board graphics it still turned off

I have run memtest all night to 1000% it said no errors

I replaced the hard drive about 6 months ago so thats new to

and a lot of the time the temps on the speed fan say it is in the lows 40's C

I just don't know where to test or replace next?

so with a bit of research and a chat in the linux group on gab is has been suggested that the onboard regulator is dying thus it's not switching to signal voltage.

screen and such goes dark when the chips overheat....the harder you drive it the faster it overheats....when you're doing nothing (memtest) those chips are idling...so it runs fine..........

Does this sound about right?

is it replaceable or would it mean a new mother board?

Hi, popping in has the BIOS been updated on this.

A E8400 is old...... Had one of those before went to 1st i-7 released (still running)    Now Intel is @ 14th Generation.

Things fly around the chip and the motherboard much more differently now.   If it runs I guess keep it, if gives you grief time to replace it.  Letting go is difficult for some.
