All sorted ! My WD AV updated today - I did it manually and it shows on the update history list.

Beaker77 please run MTB as it works just fine on Win10 and 11 also.       MTB will show if there is a Faulting Error Code.  If there is it is relatively easy to fix.

WD updating - see image. No need for MTB, matter solved.

The feature shown in the image was set to OFF, probably by the system in 12/22, since WD updating was regular up to that time.

I set it to ON, did a WD scan and WD updated on 30/04/23.

WD updates are now appearing again on Windows Update, so all is back to normal.

What other anti-virus do you have?

 

I do not have any other AV but have on manual commend anti-malware programs. They are not active until required.

I only ask because the image you shared above doesn't seem normal because it thinks Windows Defender is a secondary anti-malware program and that you have another installed.

WD AV is a secondary AV but it is not enabled, the above will allow it to do a periodic scan only. Avast is my enabled AV.

Remove avast and stick to windows defender it's just as good if not better then avast.

Avast has performed impeccably for years - it sure stays.
