Good job Celloz

We do recommend Winsockxpfix here at BC, as a last resort fix.

 Thank you so much for all the help with my scrip problem. I can now get my email. Still having problems with a few things. But I think it is because of my Norton. I uninstaled it and then reinstaled it. But it is not activating like it should. I am going to completly uninstall it and go with another one. I hope it works better then the Norton. Norton let a virus threw. Really blew me away. First time I had ever gotten a virus. I about chocked to see it on my computer. I am usually so carefull not to get them. As my computer is my life line in a way with the rest of my family who lives out of state. And with the price of gass now, we can not get to gether like we would like to. And of course we all work differnt shifts, and we play phone tag a lot.
Once again. Thank you.

Ok, now that I can now get to my email and access secured areas. I still have a script problem when I log on.
It reads as follow.
Internet Explorer Script Error
An error has occurred in the script on this page.

Char:1
Error: Permission denied
Code:0

Do you want to continue running scripots on this page?

Can you advise on this one?
Thanks

Hi Everybody
I cannot connect to some secure sites- mainly logins to my bank accounts and to paypal, and also to my national lottery account. I can log into microsoft and Ebay. This PC is running Vista home premium, my ISP is AOL, and my router is a Belkin 54g. I can't connect to the sites usin Internet Explorer either, in fact the connection is worse!. I have tried uninstalling Norton, AOl, disabling firewalls. Using other PCs running XP I can connect to the sites , via the same router, without trouble. IE encryption is set at 256 bit, and I have followed the instructions at the start of this thread. I have also tried adding the sites to the trusted part of IE. This PC is about a month old.

Can anyone help?
Thanks

donald

I have tried every option listed in this thread. I have uninstall Mcafee Enterprise Edition. I am running Windows XP Home on a Sony Vaio PCG-K15 laptop.

I have rolled back several restoral points, dumped every setting back to original, reinstalled dll filescan, Checked all IE settings, checked Cipher Strength, setting are configured to use SSL 2.0 and 3.0, Time settings for correct time, region settings, Virus scanned with current DAT file. And the list goes on.

I am running three seperate computer systems using Windows 2000 Pro, Windows XP Media Edition and Windows Home Edition all from the same DSL Modem and I do not have one error or problems accessing any secure site or pages. I am running Windows Live One Care and McAfee Home Ver 8 and McAfee Enterprise Edition.

I finally gave up and did a fresh Install on the Laptop and I still cannot access the any Https sites. Clean Install of all programs.

I am at a loss. What might I have missed? Any suggestions would be appreciated greatly.

thanks.
Johnny

Hi divingbuddy,

There is a tool which resets a lot of internal registration settings - it covers a wide variety of settings more comprehensively than what you have done. So let's run it and see.
  • Please download Dial-A-Fix from one of the following mirrors:
  • Extract the zip file to your desktop.
  • Double click Dial-a-Fix.exe to start the program.
  • Press the green double checkmark box (Looks like this: Posted Image)
  • UNcheck "Empty Temp Folders", as well as "Adjust Time/Date" in the prep section. The prep section should then look like this:
    Posted Image
  • When the window looks like this, press the GO button in the bottom of the window.
    Posted Image
  • Exit/Close Dial-A-Fix
Although you are using XP it is important for anyone else who reads this thread for help to note that Dial-A-Fix does not work on Vista and can cause problems

Hey All,

I tried Dial-a-fix and I still cannot access MS Update site, Yahoo Mail, My Yahoo and so on.

My question is....could this be hardware related? My Modem? My Laptop?

I am trying to find what is consistant and what is the common thread, "What is causing this "bleeping" problem?".

I have connected to my modem using wireless and cat5. Connected using DHCP and Static IP addresses on both connections.

My next adventure is to try another modem at a different location and see if the problem persists, or if my gremilins are clinging on so tightly they refuse to let go.

I just did a fresh install of MS SP3..........not working......no help......

Ran a Belarc scan, I am now only missing 1 security update. But still can get to the sites I need to.......

Installed Firefox 3.......no such Luck

Done for now....thanks for your help.....
