So do I type in the address bar:
localhost/name_of_file.php
Or should I open up the .html with the text fields?

this is great stuff, guys, thank so much for sharing! This is indeed a budding request that is coming along more and more, now that websites are going beyond just displaying info and needing to be able to do so much more to create interaction with clients.

great tutorial!! but I have a problem its gives me an error:
Notice: Undefined index: realname in C:\xampp\htdocs\password_test\process_form.php on line 8
Notice: Undefined index: mypassword in C:\xampp\htdocs\password_test\process_form.php on line 9

That is not the correct log-in information.
lines 8 and 9 I copy from tutorial:
$name = $_POST['realname'];
$pass = $_POST['mypassword'];

I would have to see your code to help, and it should be in it's own topic. 
I know the code works as is, so my guess is that you have a typo in your code perhaps?

Again, we would have to actually see your code. The link you provided is to a file that is local to your system; we can't see it.
My guess is that perhaps you didn't save it as an html file.

Hello. by the way thank you so much for this. it really helped me a lot. but i would like to know, is it posibble to allow multiple username and passwords to log in? if yes, please let me know. thank in advance.
