There is Code View and What ya see View (WYSIWYG).   Can try Coffeecup as it is fairly simple but do know if you only use WYSIWYG view you will never learn how to fix your coding mistakes. Use this to learn something : https://www.w3schools.com/howto/howto_website.asp

I use both Code View and WYSIWYG as most people do to make sure coming out right.  Then save and upload and see how it works out.

Near the end of doing that stuff I switched to Templates and customized to what I want.

Note : Templates must leave the ownership/design info in the Code unless purchase Templates.

I used these guys : https://html5up.net/  HTML5 Responsive Design, fits/works on all devices.

For code checking if correct for HTML5 from the people that make the rules : https://validator.w3.org/

from same for CSS : https://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/

You can save in Frontpage and upload separately using Filezilla via SFTP or through cPanel

OK-  thanks.   Can you recommend a host ?   I need to leave the one I have quickly.  They are going to introduce impractical security layers just to log in.

It would be very satisfying to still be able to maintain my domain with Frontpage.

What layers? You aren't providing any information

Which layers ?   Who wants layers of security to sign in to their own website ?  It's gotten out of hand.  My hosts have been bought out by a crew of paranoid kids honing their CIA skills.  I just want out of there.

Can you recommend any good hosts that will allow me to upload my Frontpage site using FTP ?

FTP is very depreciated and hardly used in today's industry.

Who is your hosting provider?

No-  I don't want to name my current provider.   I don't see how that would be relevant to my request for a recommendation for a new one.

It is relevant to assist you in what you can do with your current Frontpage. There are other means then just using FTP which might be disabled on other hosting providers so you'll be back to ground zero.

Here are options other than FTP (insecure and depreciated)

sftp
Cpanel
Other panels
Web based uploaders

All of these will work but not from within Frontpage.

You see why it's relevant now?

Hosting, No. Everyone has stopped allowing Front Page due to Security issues as well it is out of date and out of Support.

Every hosting provider such as hostpapa uses, FTP, CPanel or other FTP programs unless you use their Site Builder Program or have integrated software which does not include Frontpage.

Frontpage can still be used the security issues were related to Frontpage Extensions not Frontpage itself.

Ftp is a security issue in of itself due to sending clear text usernames and passwords. It shouldn't be used at all and if a hosting company still uses FTP then they shouldn't be in business.

OK-  fine-   so I can maintain my site locally using Frontpage provided that I use an acceptable protocol to upload it-  such as SFTP as you suggest-  and the new host accepts that ?

OK-  let's try another tack.   If I continue to use Frontpage locally for my website construction is it possible to upload it by any host-acceptable means ?

If so, can anybody recommend a host.

If it is NOT possible can anybody recommend another software that I can use locally that won't have any Frontpage ' security issues ' .

Thanks.

Yes as I have mentioned time and time again in this post. You will need to read your hosts accesses many of the hosters out there have disabled FTP due to security issues with passing credentials in the plain text. I am still awaiting you to provide me your hoster today so i can tell you how you can continue using your host with having to change hosts, I do not understand why you wont simply provide that information instead of going around in circles not providing the required information so WE HERE at BLEEPINGCOMPUTER can better assist you get what you want.

Also many hosts can charge you extra for premium hosting services such as using Filezilla to upload via SFTP or other secure protocol that DOES NOT PASS CREDENTIALS in plain text.
