As a matter of interest. What makes you think that someone might want to steal them?

NFTs, in themselves, have no value except that they might be associated with something that has value.

Well i don't know, I mean some people could use it to make money out of it. I know some guys here in Africa that sell books that are available online for free, some of them sell books that are available for free in some apps like Telegram, and others sell things that I might already have, because I'm part of a Digital Marketing community that I paid for and they give you lots of E-books.

I mean I can understand if people are poor and are humble and are just trying to survive, but I'm not rich at all, I'm actually jobless and I've either used a lot of research, skills and effort to make these pictures, also not all of them would be available for free so it does cost money. I mean why would I give such things away for free to strangers or people who can profit from my own work?

Watermark it, and charge for a watermark free copy.

As to your firstr paragraph - there are mugs everywhere

NFTs are big business and sell for millions of dollars. I still don’t understand them but, apparently, Sotheby’s auction house understands them very well.

Think "Tulips from 17th Century Amsterdam".

However, NFTs, from already famous artists, are highly sought after. Whether they will be in a few years time is another matter, Sotheby's will have already trousered their Commission.

Any NFT is worth whatever you can persuade a potential buyer to pay you. Not what someone says they will.

Maybe our friend fegsdc will become famous and be highly sought after. I don't see why not. With availability to exhibit online, the chances are better than ever.

If Sotheby's would sell my art, I would GLADLY pay their commission.

If the Kardashian's can make NFT's and try and sell why not.  Should make mind up as already working on being 2yrs behind.

Use https://resources.infosecinstitute.com/topic/steganography-and-tools-to-perform-steganography/ for digital media. The original will have copies or screenshots won't have it.

Cryptodan's suggestion of steganography has the merit of allowing you to prove which of several versions of an image is the original but will not stop any one copying or otherwise using the image since, while the hidden data will not be present in a copy, it is not visible in the original either so visually there would be no difference.

Wee-Eddie's suggestion of watermarking is perhaps more useful since it is immediately obvious that the watermarked image is merely a copy. You can remove watermarks using common image editing tools but it is a tedious and time consuming business to do it well and is perhaps a greater deterrent. I have done it once or twice and the tedious comes from the experience !

Another problem, especially in the digital world, is that copyright is normally a matter for civil law.- by generating a creative work of any sort you automatically acquire its copyright but to enforce it you may have to hire lawyers and that can get expensive.

But if you take a copier to court for monetary losses due to their infringement my suggestion will likely allow for a win.
